The Happy Skin Fresh Morning Dew Collection is makeup made for summer

Yesterday Happy Skin released the Fresh Morning Dew Collection, which aims to deliver a fuss-free fresh face that’s comfortable to wear during the crazy hot summer. I find this collection tight and well-conceptualized; if you don’t like spending a lot of time on makeup, hate the makeup-y feeling on skin, and love to use flattering multi-use colors, then this line-up is made for you.

Let’s take a look!

The Fresh Morning Dew Cooling Water Foundation SPF30 (P999) is one of the lightest bases I’ve ever tried. I’m not kidding. It feels almost like water on skin! Despite feeling like nothing when applied, it immediately brightens up and smooths rough-looking areas. It’s quite sheer though, so don’t expect it to cover up blemishes; you’ll need a proper concealer for that. This is the kind of base that makes good skin look incredible and not-so-good skin look a little more fresh. I wouldn’t call this a foundation. For me it’s closer to a color-correcting base, as there are only two sheer shades (the one I’m using is Light Beige which matches my medium skin, and then there’s a darker one called Soft Beige which I think will also match me) and it has a high SPF.

This is a good base for all skin types, but if you’re oily I think you’ll appreciate that it won’t feel thick during the day. If you have dry skin, I don’t think you’ll even need to set it with powder as it dries completely! The staying power on my combination oily skin is just okay. I’d say this stays solid for about 4-5 hours, after which it will start to fade. This is a good base for staying home (hello Zoom meetings) or for quick trips out to do errands.

The verdict? Love it. I have a bunch of full-coverage long-wearing foundations already, but maybe just one lightweight daily base like this that also features a good SPF number. Of course - you must wear sunscreen pa rin, but the added SPF in the base helps. I’ll be adding this to my kit!

Next up is the Fresh Morning Dew Cooling UV Sun Mist SPF35 PA+++ (P799). This smells divine, like watermelon candy, but not overpowering! I also love the mist mechanism since it delivers such a fine, fine cloud of mist. I love that it doesn’t feel oily or thick on skin unlike other sunscreen mists, and that it also doesn’t leave a white cast to ruin makeup. It’s just super comfortable. This is a good product to use for retouching sunscreen during the day, but remember, it’s not a sunscreen substitute. You’ll still need to use a cream or gel for sun protection to get proper coverage; spraying a mist is not enough for full protection! But yes, if need a mist that hydrates with hyaluronic acid, adds sun protection, AND feels like a treat to spray on, this is a good find!

On to color. Happy Skin has released several lip and cheek tint formulations in the past, and now they have a new addition: the Cooling Lip & Cheek Tint (P399). There is indeed a cooling light menthol feeling, which is fun and temporary. This tint has a milky opacity to it that never looks streaky even with just one layer. It leaves a bit of stain, but you’ll need to re-apply after 3 hours or so as it will fade especially after eating. I like that I don’t need lip balm with this as it doesn’t dry out my lips. If you do have chapped lips though, it’s best to exfoliate first and then balm up before applying any lip color.

This is a tint that works well both on the lips AND cheeks - it’s super easy to blend and looks natural with little effort. There are four shades available: Latte Fix, a peachy brown; Cold Brew, a warm spicy brown; Pink Skies, a pinky brown; and Sunrise, a cayenne pepper shade. In the full look above, I have Cold Brew on my lips and cheeks! Even though the tint is not super bright, the color payoff is quite even. All the shades are gorgeous, so I can’t recommend just one. Go for whatever you’re missing in your collection.

The Happy Skin Color Play Multi-Use Mousse (P649) is an existing formulation, but there are two new shades available: Dawn, a creamy peach, and Spring, a rosy muted pink. Actually, the first time I tried the formula, I was not impressed. But I sensed it was more of a shade issue than a product issue. These two colors I have are BOMB. So good. You probably would need to pry Dawn from my dead fingers; it blends like a dream, and is a true multi-use color - it looks and feels fantastic on the eyes, lips, and cheeks! That’s rare. And you only need a tiny amount.

Staying power is good at 3-4 hours. Spring STAINS LIKE YOU WOULDN’T BELIEVE, so much that it just renders your application finger bright pink for a while. It’s hard to wash off, too. This stays on for an extra 1-2 hours compared to Dawn.

This is a winner, and I recommend you get either one (or both, y’know) if you haven’t tried the Multi-Use Mousse yet.

COLOR ADAPT STICK.jpg

This last product is a surprise favorite for me. The Happy Skin Fresh Morning Dew Color Adapt Stick (P599) seemed like a meh product at first, because when I first tried the colorless balm, nothing happened. I rubbed it heavily, but nada. After a few minutes though I noticed the color blooming - true to the promise, the color is activated on the skin and creates a lovely sheer pink shade that should be unique to your coloring. This stains also, more on the lips than the cheeks. So pretty! This would be a great product for working out or at the beach! The balm itself doesn’t feel sticky at all, and gives a beautiful dewy sheen to the skin.

And that’s it! Hope you enjoyed my review, and if you have any questions, let me know! You can purchase the Happy Skin Fresh Morning Dew collection in Lazada, and they have sets with a special “You Dew You” pouch too.
