Before and After: I tested Neat Feat’s anti-sweat primer and chafing cream during a workout

As a self-confessed pawisin girl living in a tropical country, I’m generally more wary about how the practically year-long “sweat weather” affects my skin rather than any sweater weather can. Even now that the Ber months are here and it’s monsoon season, I still sweat a lot especially while commuting or working out at the gym. Not only can the moisture ruin my #FOTD, it can even cause sweat rashes or “bungang araw” on my body.

When Liz started raving about Neat Feat and made the products available at the Project Vanity Store, I got very curious. The Neat Feat 3B Face Saver Gel (P850 for 50g but I have a travel-sized version) is the first time I heard of an actual facial antiperspirant. Apart from offering a solution to my excessive sweating, the New Zealand brand also had an answer to another of my problems: chafing. The Neat Feat 3B Action Cream (P800 for 75g) is supposed to reduce the friction created by skin rubbing together, and I’m definitely down for anything that prevents skin irritation.

We’ve already debunked the “beauty hack” of using deodorant or antiperspirant on the face as a mattifying hack, but the 3B Face Saver Gel isn’t your typical kili-kili care item. It’s more like a silicone primer with antiperspirant properties that’s been specifically formulated for use on the face. To test it, I used it under my makeup on both regular days and on gym days. Half a pea-sized amount is enough to get the tip of my nose, that area at the top of my lip, and underneath my lower lip. It can also be applied to the forehead and the back of the neck, but the scalp and eye area should be avoided.

The gel formula quickly blends into the skin. There is a mild powdery scent, but the amount you apply is so tiny that you won’t really notice the scent. I did notice that certain bases that typically sink into my pores instantaneously (e.g. IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream) take a little bit longer to buff on.

On a regular day, the makeup on my nose and chin usually fades in 3 or 4 hours, but using the Face Saver Gel beforehand managed to keep it matte and intact until the 7 to 8 hour mark! I also checked on my makeup after an hour of dance cardio at the gym, and found that my skin had stayed matte with slight fading, partially because of the way I wiped my face with a towel. I still had some sweat droplets, but not as much as usual and without the accompanying excess oil.

Now, onto the 3B Action Cream. I typically get sweat rashes on my chest, in that area between the neck and breasts. Chalk it up to sweat getting trapped in my workout clothes and irritating my skin. The red bumps usually start to appear right after my workout until the next morning. I applied a pea-sized amount of the Action Cream pre-workout, and I did observe that the sweat rashes did not increase.

While the product name makes it sound like something to use for sports (and many athletes do use this product), anyone who wears skirts and dresses will find a practical application for this as well! Applying a pea-sized amount on each inner thigh prevents the accursed chub rub that we tried to solve (but couldn’t) with silicone primers. I usually have to wear shorts underneath to prevent chafing when I’m in a skirt, but the Action Cream has eliminated my need for it! I tested the cream by walking long distances in dress, and my thighs just slip and slide smoothly. You know how much of a relief that is!

Swatches: Face Saver is a clear gel while Action Cream is an opaque white cream
