I find that specifically having Hyaluron in my serum gives me a more potent hydration boost (and gets me one step closer to my glass skin goals). Let’s break down what makes this upcoming release so special. This face serum is actually formulated with 2 types of hyaluronic acid, 0.5% macro and 1% micro HA. The former, a.k.a. high molecular weight HA, works to hydrate the surface of the skin. Meanwhile, the micro/low molecular weight HA goes to the deeper layers of the skin to plump it up and help reduce the appearance of fine lines. This humectant combo will give you a more thorough way of preserving moisture.
Though I’m used to L’Oreal skincare products being fragranced, I was surprised to learn that this new HA serum is fragrance-free. It’s a lightweight, runny formula that is meant to be tapped on to the skin, and it quickly gets absorbed. I typically use 4-5 drops spread out on my forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. There is some tackiness that I have come to associate with hyaluronic acid-centric products, but it does disappear once the serum sets. The finish looks satiny without any slickness. I’d feel comfortable using this under makeup without fear of it resulting in a cakey base.
To amp up your routine, try including the L’Oreal Paris Crystal Micro-Essence (P799 for 65ml/P1,299 for 130ml in Lazada) before the serum step. It contains salicylic acid and HEPES (hydroxyethylpiperazine ethane sulfonic acid), both known for their mild exfoliating properties. I skip the cotton pad with this and just pat the essence on. Like the serum, skin absorption is fast. I get a satin finish with a noticeable smoothing effect to my general skin texture. The essence does have a floral fragrance, so you might want to give it a whiff first if you’re sensitive to scents.
My current post-cleanse skincare regimen now starts with the Crystal Micro-Essence, followed by the 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum. When used together, I notice that the two collectively produce a dewy, plump radiant effect. Not oily, but more like glassy and well-hydrated! And once the first two steps have set, I seal the deal with my moisturizer and it’s off to bed! Next morning, I do not experience any flakiness or greasiness. It simplifies my routine down to three steps, while still feeling like I’m getting full skincare benefits.
Overall, I was wowed by how the 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum was able to give me sufficiently hydrated skin while maintaining a lightweight feel. My face does feel plumper to the touch, and I can imagine it helping address my issues with fine lines over time.
