Full review + before and after photos of K-Palette Lasting Eyebrow Tint Pen

Often I feel lucky that Manila is so close to beauty manufacturing capitals like Japan, Korea, Thailand, and China. We get so many innovations here much earlier than the Western side of the world! One such newfangled concept is the recently released K-Palette Lasting Eyebrow Tint Pen (P845). This promises to deliver the same days-long (!) staying power of the ubiquitous peel-off brow tint, which K-Palette also started offering in 2017. The difference here is that you don’t need to let it “cure” for a few hours and there is absolutely no peeling involved. Interesting, right?

The Tint Pen looks almost exactly like K-Palette’s eyebrow pen, except it has a felt-tip stiff applicator (like a marker). It works by staining the skin so that it won’t come off easily even with makeup remover and facial wash. I found it considerably easier to use compared to the bulky and sticky tip of the peel-off tint; it looks natural when you draw with it so you can apply it as you would a normal eyebrow product. The staining effect is what sets it apart most eyebrow makeup in the market!

There are two shades available: Natural Brown, a soft light warm brown, and Bitter Brown, a slightly darker taupier brown. They’re not that much different from each other; if you can only get one, Bitter Brown is the better choice so that you can intensify the tint a bit more. Both apply smoothly and have a natural finish, although they will cling to patches or inflamed areas you may have on your brow zone. In my case, that clear dot near the outer tip of my brows basically ate the product during application. It was a pimple in the process of drying up.

But how is the staying power, in practice? I wore it yesterday on top of makeup for 10 straight hours and it did not fade or move even when my brows got really oily. When I double cleansed (cleansing oil + facial wash) my makeup off though, my brows definitely did not stay solid; the tint has faded. It left a light shadow, for sure, and my brows do seem more enhanced in terms of structure. But don’t expect it to stay for more than a few washes.

So smooth!

Here’s what it looks like after ten hours. My eyeliner has completely failed, but the brows were not moved.

There’s a trick to it, I think. This eyebrow tint must be applied on clean, dry skin so that its staining effect is maximized. That means that there should be zero skincare and makeup on the area before application! I swatched this on the back of my hand and the tint is much more visible on bare skin even after a couple of showers and a stint at the sink washing dishes. I can see this staying on for a couple days, at least.

There’s still some tint left

Even so, if you’re looking for a tint that’ll stay for at least three to four days, I’d say that the original K-Palette Eyebrow Tint (the peel-off) is a better bet. The downside is the learning curve and precision required to get it right. If, on the other hand, you’re more interested in a really solid, long-wearing eyebrow pen that’ll stay with you as you swim or sweat profusely in a workout, the Eyebrow Tint Pen is your best bet. Less of it may stay after a wash, but some will remain and it will cut your application time by some amount. It may even be best to apply it before sleeping to get it to stain for as long as possible.

Right now K-Palette is pre-selling the Eyebrow Tint Pen on their website for P845. If you use our code PVFREESHIP upon check out, you will get free shipping! ^_^ Let me know what you think of this pen!
