New Product Alert: The In Her Element Butterlips Conditioning Color

I’ve tried hundreds and hundreds of lip products in my career as a beauty blogger and editor these last 12 years. You only need to look at all the lip swatch photos and reviews I and the PV Team have published in the past to see that trends in color and formulations come and go; what’s hot right now might roll on for a few years, and then not be seen again until its turn on the line has come.

What I’ve noticed though is that there is one thing that never goes out of style - comfort. We love our daring colors and fun formulas, but we always go back to our basic need of having lips that are smooth and flake-free. Lips are an important part of our face and caring for them should be as much a priority - well, perhaps even more, since we eat with it! - as we care for the rest of our skin. That’s one of the reasons we created the In Her Element Nourishing Cocoa Balm (P185 at inherelement.ph). It works because it moisturizes from deep inside the lips (it’s an emollient), and not just by sitting on top!

However, I thought I’d take it one step further by creating something that solves a problem I have. See one of the things I like to do when I’m just stepping out to exercise or do groceries (basically any casual day) is to put a thick layer of the Nourishing Cocoa Balm, add a few dabs of bright lipstick, then smoosh my lips together to create a fresh look. It’s an easy way to make sure my lips don’t dry out while getting a dose of color that matches my 5-minute barely there makeup! But the thing is, retouching is a hassle since I need to bring two separate products. I want something that can just stay in my pocket and put on my lips even without a mirror - even when I’m just walking or after a meal when I remember it.

If you love lip colors, then you know this is an issue. Liquid tints and stains are too drying. Normal tinted balms end up too sheer that I might as well have used a balm with no color at all.

Enter the new Butterlips Conditioning Color (P345 / 3 grams each or P875 for a set of all three shades). This lipstick balm is all about moisturizing comfort as you wear it during the day, and it comes in three skin-brightening shades that work for all skin tones. The names are inspired by the three daughters of Bathala, for their strength and beauty.

  • Mayari is a ride-or-die muted clay shade with a light brown undertone that flatters all skin types

  • Tala is a “my lips but better” pinkish plum that creates a blooming, fresh look

  • Hanan is a fun salmon pink that brightens skin (and one’s smile) instantly

As with all In Her Element formulations, Butterlips are paraben-free, perfume-free, and not tested on animals (only on ourselves!). It features the good stuff like Vitamin E, Cocoa Butter, and Sunflower Oil on top of a moisture-sealing wax base.

Mayari I think is an easy favorite but I love Tala and Hanan because they just make skin look so nice! These look pretty at full saturation but I do recommend also dabbing these on to create a softer lip look. We’ve found it flattering across different skin tones and what’s great is that each shade works uniquely with everyone’s coloring.

I do hope you can try In Her Element’s first venture into color. We’ve always been about skincare, and yes, lips ARE skin. This time around we wanted to bring that maximum glow with flattering colors, for minimal effort. Let me know what you think of our new release!

The In Her Element Butterlips Conditioning Color is now available at inherelement.ph. It will soon roll out into BeautyMNL.com, Lazada, and Shopee, and at malls where Beauty Bar can be found.
