Eye of Horus releases new vegan lipsticks named after goddesses
I was a little surprised to learn that Eye of Horus is actually an indie brand. We’ve featured them extensively on the site and are always blown away by the quality of the items, so it’s easy to assume that there’s a gigantic team of chemists and researchers slaving away to perfect their powerhouse collection of eye enhancers.
But no! The secret to Eye of Horus is the hands-on mother-daughter tandem of Heather and Holly Spierings, who make it their duty to know all about the exotic and health-beneficial oils that they incorporate into the products. Taking cues and learnings from history, they’ve relied on several beauty bigwigs such as castor oil, rice bran, bees wax, candellila and carnauba wax, lavender flower, star anise extract, evening primrose oil, and their favorite: the ancient Egyptians’ revered moringa oil. Moringa oil, also called “oil of the Pharaohs,” was actually found in Tutankhamen’s tomb. In ancient Egypt, the moringa tree was also known as The Tree of Life because it was said to have beautifying and regenerating power.

The Bio Lipsticks are available in six satin MLBB shades named after goddesses: Artemis Nude, Venus Pink, Aurora Peach, Inanna Honey, Cleo Plum, and Freya Rose. The colors are waxy and feel extremely nourishing, and it’s interesting to note how the subdued satin colors go so well with the intense Eye of Horus eye looks.

Nude is yellow-based and looks like a great “concealer nude” for fairer skin tones. Pink is a soft rose, while Peach is a muted orange. These three shades would pop up nicely against fairer skin! Meanwhile, Honey, a brown-based pink; Plum, a mauve that is the deepest shade in the collection; and Rose, an earthy pink, are the deeper shades in the collection.
