Six New Shades: Lip Swatches + Follow Up Review of the EB Plus Sheer Tinted Lip Balm

Product photography by Perkin Gotohio

Easily one of my favorite lipstick formulas of the year is the EB Plus Sheer Tinted Lip Balm (P245 / 3.2g). I’ve traveled to several countries with this in my kit and most days, it’s the only lip product I’d slip into my pocket so I can retouch midway through my day. I don’t normally carry a bag, so that pocket space is precious! That’s how much I love it. Recently, EB released six new shades, so of course I had to swatch everything for you.

Let’s do a quick recap first! The Sheer Tinted Lip Balm is, honestly, not that sheer. I would say it has medium coverage, and can be fully opaque in two layers. But because of the moisturizing formula that delivers a soft shine on the lips, it looks quite natural - the perfect daily lipstick! The deeper colors also tend to stain so I don’t need to retouch immediately. On 12-hour busy days, I really only need to retouch about three times, every three hours or so.

It has a comfortable, thin feel on the lips so this is my go-to during my travels. It never gets caky or flaky on the lips even after hours of wear so retouching is easy as it always fades evenly, with no off texture.

Anyway, here are the new shades! In the lip swatches, they look rather alike but in person they are quite different. It must have been my camera settings since I increased exposure for the lip swatches (sorry about that). You can see the difference of the colors better in my hand swatch. Suffice it to say, all the shades are absolutely lovely. Tutu is a color changing balm so it is just white in the tube.

If I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be Marsala. I wore it to the Beauty Creator Summit, and on the left photo is the lipstick within the first three hours of wear. In the photo on the right, it’s what it looks like after 9 hours with only two retouches in between. Any makeup girlie knows that a formula that’s moisturizing AND doesn’t cake up on the lips is the best option if you know you’ll be out for a long time and won’t have a lot of breaks to do a proper retouch. A balm-base lippie is the best for the job, in my opinion.

So yes, if you haven’t tried the EB Plus Sheer Tinted Lip Balm by now, you really should. I promise you won’t regret it.
