Six reasons to try Drunk Elephant now + full price list in the Philippines

The brand first came to my attention when Liz reviewed the Drunk Elephant Sukari Babyfacial. Drunk Elephant was available at Sephora Philippines then and the Babyfacial was one of their bestsellers.

Founded by Tiffany Masterson in 2013, the brand took its name from the myth that elephants get drunk from the fallen fermented marula fruit. This is because Virgin Marula Oil is an ingredient featured in many of Drunk Elephant’s products! For Drunk Elephant, what is left out of their products is just as important as what is put in. This is something they’re very conscious of as they make formulations for all skin types with the ultimate goal of keeping skin balanced and healthy.

Let’s dig a little deeper and get to know more about Drunk Elephant’s skin philosophy.

#1 Drunk Elephant’s cornerstone is avoiding The Suspicious 6™

This list of sus ingredients is composed of essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes, and SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate). They were identified by Tiffany to be the root of a lot of her skin issues. When she couldn't find products that didn't have these, she created her own thus resulting in the brand Drunk Elephant.

If you want to know more about each item on the list and why they are not good for your skin, you can check out the brand’s feature on The Suspicious 6™ here.

F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial (P3,250 / 50ml) and TLC Framboos Night Serum (P5,650 / 30ml)

#2 Drunk Elephant encourages our skin to take A #DrunkBreak

After identifying The Suspicious 6™, Tiffany removed these in her routine which resulted in a skin reset: skin that’s clear, healthy, and balanced. Following this ingredient-elimination philosophy is easier for us since we're sure that DE products are free of these ingredients. We're invited to take a #DrunkBreak, using DE products exclusively to get maximum results.

#3 Drunk Elephant believes in Biocompatible Skincare

Biocompatibility, by the Merriam-Webster definition, is the "compatibility with living tissue by not being toxic, injurious, or physiologically reactive". When used to describe Drunk Elephant skincare, this means that they are close to the skin's natural pH level of 5.5. The range of their products fall between 2.5 and 6.8 so it's not too alkaline nor too acidic.

Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser (P2,000 / 150ml)

Protini Powerpeptide Resurf Serum (P5,150 / 30ml)

#4 Drunk Elephant’s skincare all mix and layer perfectly together

In creating your own Drunk Elephant skincare routine, the order of application is not as important compared to other brands. This is because DE products mix well with each other and are easily absorbed by the skin, making it highly customizable to create a skincare "smoothie". Busy or impatient skincare enthusiasts like me will enjoy the ease of mixing a "smoothie" that provides what your skin needs without waiting for the previous “layer” to set it first.

Their website also has a smoothie glossary that you can check out or you can create your own recipe with the DE products that your skin needs.

C-Firma Fresh Day Serum (P4,900 / 28ml)

Protini Polypeptide Cream (P4,250 / 50ml)

#5 Drunk Elephant is Leaping Bunny Certified

Drunk Elephant has been Leaping Bunny certified since 2018. This means they don't do animal testing. If you're wondering how this works since they're available in Mainland China, they answered this question thoroughly in their FAQ International section.

Here’s the full explanation:

We are so thrilled to be available in mainland China! However, if you’re asking about animal testing, let’s be clear: That is something we would never do. Hong Kong SAR does not require animal testing. That is the only place where we will be selling in retail (via Sephora HK), and in mainland China, we are using cross border e-commerce which does not require the same registration process as cosmetics sold via retail there. We are Leaping Bunny Program certified, and have never, nor will we ever, animal test or allow our products to be tested on animals.

Lala Retro Whipped Cream (P3,750 / 50ml)

Lippe Balm (P1,100 / 3.7g)

Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil (P4,250 / 30ml)

#6 Drunk Elephant is Now in the Philippines!

Sephora PH used to be our main access to Drunk Elephant products. Back in 2019 however, the Shiseido Beauty Group acquired the brand and this year, they are launching here in the Philippines! We can expect them online at lookatme.com.ph and at brick and mortar stores in SM Megamall, SM Makati, SM Aura Premier, and SM MoA starting October 2022. While the Drunk Elephant Sukari Babyfacial won't be available here in the Philippines, expect to see their other amazing products in stores. Here is a price list of the products for reference:
