Rainy Day Lip Faves: Here are four tried-and-tested balms to bring life back to your dry lips

Ladies and gentlemen, typhoon season has officially arrived and perhaps like me your lips are feeling the strain. Cooler weather is a good respite from the deep of the summer but you best believe that my lips dry up like prunes once things take a wetter turn. So, allow me to present four lip balms that I’ve always found reliable! Let me know of your favorites too!

In Her Element Cocoa Balm (P185 at inherelement.ph/ Shopee). This is a yummy, chocolate-y balm that moisturizes as good as it smells. I created this for my local skincare brand because I want something that actually sinks in and moisturizer my lips with rich emollients. It contains coconut oil and cocoa butter so it doesn’t just act as an occlusive, it boosts the lips with the good stuff. This is my everyday, no-fail balm!

Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint (P1,850 at Rustan’s). This is what I reach out for when I want just a hint of fresh tint on my lips, while offering a bit of a shine. It’s hydrating without the waxy feel! My tip is to layer it a couple of times if you really want a stronger stain that will wear for hours.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask (P950 at Lazada). This one’s a classic for a reason. It’s a highly effective occlusive - meaning it moisturizes by physically preventing water loss from the lips by cloaking it in a hard to unravel layer. This is best to wear at night as it can feel thick during the day, but you can bet that it’s worth the soft lips in the morning!

MENTHOLATUM Lip Pure Fragrance Free Lip Balm (P195 in Watsons.ph). This is a recent find! I love it because it’s great under lipstick as it goes on thinly and smoothly, without adding much texture. You do get that moisture though! I highly recommend this also if you have sensitive lips, as it doesn’t have unnecessary additives.

Try these out and let me know what you think! Do your lips feel dry in the colder weather too?
