You need to know these 2016 beauty trends for your lips, eyes, face, and hair

Is “try new makeup looks” part of your new year’s resolution this 2016? If you don’t know where to start, fret not, for we are here to clue you in on beauty trends from the recent Spring/Summer 2016 Fashion Week! Here are a few fabulous trends to try this year.

Dolce & Gabbana and Jason Wu

CANDY APPLE LIPS

Line up your reddest lipstick, girls, and look for S/S 2016 makeup artists’ fave: the Snow White apple red. Wear it in satin finish as seen on the Dolce & Gabbana show, or in matte “that won’t budge” ala Jason Wu.

BLUER THAN BLUE

If you can’t cop the Chanel mask-like eyeshadow look, fret not. There are more wearable ways to do the blue eyes this year. Start with changing your eyeliner. Do it like Phillip Lim and line your top outer and bottom inner lash lines for that unexpected pop of color.

Transition to eye shadows by smudging a bit on the inner corners of your lids. The key is to use it to highlight your eyes rather than cover your entire lids. Contour minimally and use nude lipstick for an updated “out all night” grunge look, as seen from the Marc Jacobs show.

If you dare to break out from your shell like the disco glam queen that you were meant to be, believe us when we say it’s what Diane Von Furstenberg would like you to be one, too! To achieve the disco vibe straight from DVF’s runway, choose aquamarine shades for your eyelids and upper and lower lash lines. Finish with heavy eyeliner.

LINE IT UP

The graphic eyelinerlook is not going away this year. Celine did a graphic floating eyeliner, a look that works well with candy apple lips. Also, check out the mismatched eyeliner style that in theory should not work but looks suitably edgy in this one.

UK brand TopShop Unique also introduced a look they called “rebellious prettiness” with party girl eyes and red lips (candy apple!) at its core. How to get it? Black kohl, iridescent eye shadows, lots of mascara, and a lived-in eyeliner look that’s effortlessly smudged. Notice the lush eyebrows, too.

LASHES

What we used to call spider lashes are now reincarnated as “doll-like mascara-heavy” lashes. We say, don’t be afraid of spider lashes this year. If anything else, embrace it like Marni and Francesco Scognamiglio did. This might be the only year you’d be able to get away with it!

However, if you’re still not confident to rock the spider lashes, here’s how you can cop Audrey Hepburn’s doe-eyed look using her very own mascara trick . The doe-eyed look is still in vogue, too, as per Balmain and Dolce & Gabbana.

BRONZED

Yes, we also want an order of Gigi Hadid’s bronzed babe goddess look ala Tommy Hilfiger show, but how? Think post-gym skin with a dewy finish, achieved by highlighting the cheeks, top of the lip, and brow bone with Vaseline. For eyes, a sweep of bronze eye shadow all over the lid. For Asians like us, you can blend a darker bronze color on the outer V to for depth. Make sure to use outward strokes to smoothen the color transition. Finish with a pale champagne color on the brow bone. Healthy lips in nude or clear lipglass complement your sun-kissed look.

STARS IN YOUR EYES

Sparkles are set to make a comeback this year, but in tasteful and dazzling highpoints on top of your eyeliners like what Kate Spade did, or as  eyeliner itself like Dries Van Noten. The trick is to choose eye products that are well milled and with smaller specks.

MINI-MAXI

Three hairstyles stood for us this year. First is the sleek reinvented wet look as seen on Kenzo . Slather on some gel or mousse for that just-got-out-of-the-pool look that’s perfect for the summer.

The lazy girl’s hairstyle gets upgraded with messy buns and loops. Forget about tousled hair that takes a village to make it look worn; dry hair with a blow dryer, pull your hair half through an elastic, and you’re out the door.

Lastly, embrace your individuality with a killer cut. Idiosyncrasy and individualism ruled the runways with short bangs, boyish crops, side-shaven heads, and super-sized curls to name a few. Some fashion designers even did away with a singular hairstyle for models and used what head of hair their models have on currently.
