My top six foundation picks

I fancy myself as a foundation expert (humor me) because I've tried a goodly number of that stuff. I've lost count, but I've narrowed it down to six foundations which I consider are the best I've used to date. They're the ones I keep coming back to because of their superb formula and finish. That's not to say that the other ones I've raved about before are not good ha; they're just not the best.

Anyway, here's a list of my favorite foundations of all time! Do click the links to read the full review of each product. I use these regularly depending on where I'm going and what I'm doing so I'll explain that.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. Yeah you should've seen this coming! Still one of the best there is for me. It has a satin, flawless finish that covers all my skin's sins. It's also so economical that a bottle can last you for more than a year even with regular use.

Last week I actually found out that I still have 20-25% of this stuff left in the bottle, which is mind blowing considering I bought this on September 2010.

I use this when...It's my all-around foundation, especially when my skin is terrible. It's my fail-safe face makeup since it makes me look good no matter what. And I mean no. Matter. What.

Smashbox Studio Skin 15-Hour Wear Foundation. This foundation promises 15 hours. You get 15 hours. It's practically waterproof so it doesn't matter how much you sweat or get wet.

I use this when...I'm going to be out and about the whole day. This is an extremely reliable foundation so I can trust it not to smear or budge once I put it on. I like using it during events too because it's photogenic.

Lancome Teint Miracle. This is not just a foundation, it's also has a built-in illuminator. Gone are the savage days of mixing illuminator with your face makeup! Finish looks like glowy skin.

I use this when...My skin is dull and boring. It's an instant pick me upper in a bottle.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Mineral Makeup SPF15. This weightless foundation is like the powder version of the Teint Miracle. It enhances my skin with just a thin layer.

I use this when...I want to look like I'm not wearing any makeup. Useful when I'm meeting with professional contacts, believe me! It's also the perfect finishing powder on top of my liquid foundations.

Clinique Superbalanced Powder Makeup SPF15/PA+++. This is my default daily foundation. I just use my huge powder brush, buff it on, and head out the door in five minutes. Very convenient.

I use this when...I'm in a rush. It's easy to work with; I don't have to add any extra stuff like a finishing powder, illuminating powder, and what not. This is what I use when I'm running errands, hehe.

Colorescience Pressed Mineral Foundation Compact. I'm almost out of this stuff. :( That's sad because I can't plop four gs on this beauty - that's impractical considering I have other foundations I can use. Anyway, this pressed powder foundation is the best for me in that category.

I use this when...I'm in a rush. It's also convenient to travel with so I use it when I'm applying makeup outside the house.

And that's it. What are your top foundations?
