Four New Filipino Beauty Brands I'm Excited About

The Filipino beauty industry has grown by leaps and bounds, especially during the pandemic. It’s ironic because while a lot of established brands struggled during this period, this also gave smaller brands opportunities to build a loyal following. Now, there’s nothing I love more than discovering and celebrating Filipino beauty brands that deliver passion, innovation, and truly cater to the diverse skincare and makeup needs of Filipinas. Today, I’m ecstatic to share with you four new local brands that have captured my attention. Let’s dive in, shall we?

Skin Poem

This brand was born out of love and necessity. Founder Christine Simpson was driven to create skincare for her brother who was struggling with severe psoriasis. Imagine trying to find that elusive skincare product that would soothe and heal without causing further irritation. Working closely with a dermatologist, Christine brought to life a range of cosmetically elegant products that honor the skin. The ethos of Skin Poem is clear: it’s about caring for the skin gently, not declaring war on it. Given that it's locally manufactured, it also brings a sense of pride knowing we're supporting home-grown products.

Dermtropics

We always hear about the power couple in the entertainment world, but Margaux and Miko Lucena are giving that title a whole new meaning in the beauty industry! With Margaux's mother being a dermatologist, it’s no surprise that the duo decided to venture into the realm of body and hair care. Their standout feature? The incorporation of raw and organic wet-milled Virgin Coconut Oil sourced in Mindanao. And for those sensitive to scents and cautious about ingredients, breathe easy knowing these are fragrance-free and paraben-free. The cherry on top? Their commitment to sustainability with biodegradable and refillable packaging while also manufacturing right here in the Philippines. Truly, it's beauty with a conscience.

Balanse

When you hear about a 25-year old like Martina Gozun launching a brand, you know there’s a compelling story behind it. Martina, grappling with Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), was on the lookout for gentle skincare products tailored to her condition. Instead of just finding them, she decided to make them! The Probiotic Gentle Cleanser, AHA Gentle Exfoliating Toner, and Ceramide Enriched Cream with SPF40 don’t mess around when it comes to elegant and effective formulation.

Ysra Cosmetics

Enter the realm of professional makeup crafted by professionals. Ysra Guarino, a professional makeup artist specializing in bridal makeup, noticed the gaps in the market for pro makeup that’s user-friendly and boasts of intense pigmentation. Whether you’re a budding makeup artist or someone who just loves to play with colors, Ysra Cosmetics promises a delightful experience.

In the ever-evolving landscape of Filipino beauty, it's brands like these that make my heart skip a beat. They’re not just about putting out products; they’re about addressing real needs, inspiring stories, and pushing boundaries. I, for one, can't wait to see where they head next.

As always, stay smart and keep supporting local!
