Why I’m currently loving Olay’s oil-free moisturizer for my skin

This story is brought to you by Olay Philippines.

Having extremely oily skin with a lot of skin concerns, finding the best skin care products for my particular needs has been a challenge. I’d like to have bright, smooth and glowing skin with less visible pores but the best facial treatments often cost a pretty penny. That’s why I was intrigued by the claims of Olay’s Power Duo, which aims to help achieve all my concerns using the White Radiance Light Perfecting Essence (P1,299 for 30ml) and the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream (P1,899 for 50g), at a price that’s not too heavy on the pocket.

The White Radiance Light Perfecting Essence provides dual whitening action. It is supposed to enhance skin radiance in 7 days and reduce dark spots and uneven skin tone in 4 weeks. Developed with a patented Pearl-Optics Technology to brighten the skin and advanced Sepitonic Complex to banish dull, yellow skin, the essence is also infused with Anastatica to seal in moisture. I was also glad to see that niacinamide, a potent ingredient with benefits such as improving skin tone and texture, is the third on the ingredients list. I was really eager to try this out!

Upon opening the box, I was immediately drawn to the luxe look and feel of the essence bottle. The glass felt heavy and sturdy, and the iridescent white color looked lovely. It was the cap, though, that really took the cake. I haven’t encountered this unique mechanism in other products before so I was surprised to discover that the cap was an automatic dropper. Twisting it automatically draws product into the dropper so that it is ready to be dispensed once the cap is removed. It’s pretty nifty and looks so much nicer than the usual plastic dropper.

The essence itself is somewhat like the color of the bottle - an iridescent white with some very fine shimmers. It has a floral scent but is very faint. Two pumps is enough for my entire face and neck, as a little goes a long way. The essence is milky with a very lightweight texture, and my skin absorbed it very quickly. While the iridescent shimmers were only very faintly visible on my skin, I felt like it immediately made my skin look more hydrated.

The best face moisturizer for me needs to be hydrating yet lightweight, non-greasy, and easily absorbed by the skin. I only use oil-free moisturizers as to not to add to my skin’s greasiness, but sometimes they can feel very basic. This is not the case for the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, which is the brand’s most advanced anti-aging moisturizer. It’s chock-full of actives such as carob fruit extract to help repair skin surface, amino peptides for stimulating collagen production to reduce wrinkles and firm up the skin, hyaluronic acid and glycerol to hydrate, Olive-M with olive oil as antioxidant, and niacinamide, which is the fourth ingredient. Despite all these nourishing ingredients and added benefits, it is still a non-comedogenic moisturizer, and I haven’t broken out from using this. It has a stronger scent than the Light Perfecting Essence that lingers for a couple of hours after application, but it is a neutral, clean scent that I don’t find bothersome.

Since I like to use both an essence and a moisturizer for both day and night regimens, I found it easy to incorporate the Power Duo into my skin care routine. My skin is extremely oily, though, so I reserve use of the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream for bedtime. Less oily people should be able to use the cream even in the daytime as it’s not too rich and doesn’t feel greasy. In fact, my husband already wants this for himself  as he’s a big Olay fan who has finished three tubs of Olay moisturizers!

Despite a careful regimen, I frequently wake up in the morning looking like a grease ball. Therefore, another important criterion for me when choosing skin care products is their ability to balance my oily skin. After using both the White Radiance Light Perfecting Essence and Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream for my night routine though, I was pleasantly surprised to wake up to glowing skin that didn’t look and feel oily! I usually only get these results from products twice the price, so I’m glad that the Power Duo was able to deliver at a much more reasonable cost. So far, I am enjoying a good experience with the Olay Power Duo and will continue to incorporate them into my routine. If you want more radiant, smoother skin, the White Radiance Light Perfecting Essence and Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream combo is definitely worth trying out!
