We tried 3 Jumiso products - here’s what worked and what didn’t

As someone with oily and acne-prone skin, I’ve admittedly experimented with my skincare a lot (with the guidance of my derma). I’m convinced that I’ve now found the two skincare must-haves for oily skin: a low pH cleanser and regular exfoliation using acids. While I am admittedly a bit biased because I work for both PV and In Her Element, I never say no to trying Korean brands. I’ve tried the famous TI’AM Signature Red Serum, loved the simple skincare approach of Dear Klair’s, and even stanned for GOT7’s collab with The Face Shop! So when the chance to review Jumiso products came, I was immediately excited and jumped at the opportunity.

Now, don’t let the name confuse you: it is not at all related to the Miniso, Mumuso, and other ~so stores that offer China-made products. Jumiso is an upcoming Korean skincare brand that you can find at Go Bloom and Glow. The brand’s core value is to “give smiles to their customers”, and the brand name is actually derived from the Korean words 주 (ju), to give; and 미소 (miso), smile. Their logo even has a little smiley face!

The last time I tried an acid toner was the Some By Mi Miracle Toner, which could potentially cause overexfoliation. Fortunately, I ended up getting Jumiso’s Yes I Am 5% Toner AHA (P900 for 125ml) and I’m happy about being able to confidently recommend it! This is an alcohol-free acid toner with a watery texture and zero scent. This contains AHAs like glycolic acid and lactic acid to smoothen skin texture, and panthenol to deeply moisturize skin.

During the first two weeks of use, I actually broke out and felt worried about having a bad reaction. It’s a good thing that I stuck with it anyway because once the breakouts began to heal, I noticed how smooth and glowy my skin was getting! I had less clogged pores, and my foundation just looked so much better when applied. The best part about this toner was that I only needed to use it every other night to see good results. This also made it easy for me to avoid accidentally overexfoliating my skin, and I make sure to follow up with a rich moisturizer.

Meanwhile, Nine has some hyperpigmentation and an uneven skin tone that makes her forehead appear slightly darker than the rest of her face. She first tried out the All Day Vitamin Brightening and Balancing Serum (P1,080 for 30ml), which claims to contain 86.14% vitamin tree extract and niacinamide content of 20,000 ppm. This is supposed to have different ingredients such as vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K to help brighten skin and boost its elasticity. I tried searching for what Vitamin Tree is, but couldn’t find what kind of ingredient it actually referred to.

The serum smells very citrus-y, almost like orange powdered juice. It does not linger on the face though, so it’s not irritating or overpowering. The texture is easy to spread and feels light on the skin even with the oil-like consistency. It is easily absorbed by the skin, too, needing about 3 drops of serum per application.

Nine included the serum in both her day and night routines to test it out. Unfortunately, her concerns about the different extracts in the ingredients list were soon confirmed after just a few days of use. Her skin developed pustules that looked more like a breakout than just purging. She also did not see any clear improvements on her skin tone, but that may be because she had only used it for a short time before needing to stop.

To aid skin recovery, Nine tried the Have A Good Cream (P1,080 for 50g). This is a moisturizer that features snail secretion filtrate and centella asiatica extract or cica, which are both ingredients are known to soothe, repair, and hydrate skin. There is a slightly cooling sensation due to the mentha haplocalix extract in the ingredients list, and has a lightweight texture that’s easy to spread. A pea-sized amount is enough for the whole face! It takes a while for the cream to be absorbed by the skin though, so it helps to lightly massage it in until it’s completely absorbed.

Despite the hydration claim, Nine says that her skin did not feel deeply hydrated, but it did help with some of the flakiness. I was also disappointed to see that the snail secretion filtrate ranked low in the ingredients list, and we didn’t see any improvements to her PIH despite the cica content. That said, Nine shares that she loves how this cream made her skin smoother and softer after 2 weeks of daily use! She wakes up to glowing, soft skin and no longer gets as many breakouts.

With 2 out of 3 products performing well in our tests, Jumiso is definitely a promising brand to try at Go Bloom and Glow. Do note that skincare is always YMMV (your mileage may vary) so my and Nine’s experiences may be different from your own. Make sure to always patch test products before applying to your whole face to minimize the extent of any negative reactions.
