We tested Make Up For Ever’s new foundation made specifically for reviving tired skin

Is it just me or is 2019 passing by quickly? The Ber months are here, and holiday season is right around the corner! With everything going at full steam ahead, stress and lack of sleep can become your daily companions. We don’t need to worry though - Make Up For Ever has just launched their newest solution to helping us stay fresh faced: the Make Up For Ever Reboot Foundation (P2,700).

The foundation claims to have 5 key benefits: all day long brightening, 24H smoothing, 24H firming, 24H hydration, and evening out of the skin. The formula is designed to help “revive tired skin,” which is exactly what my skin needs right now as a working mom! I got to try out the new Reboot Foundation, and learned bonus tips on longevity from the MUFE Masterclass with artist Leo Posadas. With his expertise on bridal makeup, he shared the steps on how to get a bright, glowing base with Reboot:

Start by applying the Mist and Fix Setting Spray (P1,650) all over the face up to the collarbones to prep your skin. Use a sponge to blend well.

Use a brush to apply the Ultra HD Skin Booster Hydra Plump Serum (P2,250). This will add to the youthful appeal of your makeup.

Apply the Step 1 Skin Equalizer Radiant Primer (P2,200) on the high points of the face. Blend well so that skin will not feel greasy or wet.

Shake the bottle of Reboot foundation before applying. Include application on the neck and ear areas to avoid a mask-like effect and harmonize the overall tone.

After applying your highlights, set lightly with the Ultra HD Loose Powder (P2,150). Make sure to tap the brush before sweeping on the face! Apply sparingly since it’s easier to add than to remove.

Apply your contour and color before finishing off with another layer of the Ultra HD Loose Powder, and spraying with the Mist and Fix Setting Spray to seal in everything.

I put these tips and the Reboot Foundation to the test (though I forgot to do the final spritz of the Mist and Fix). The finish looked very skin-like with light to medium coverage. A single layer was enough to have a bit of blurring effect, looking like a more even and healthier version of my skin. I used the 112 Kabuki Brush which is said to have been designed to work perfectly with Reboot. Applying more layers can build up the coverage but it will look less natural. Instead, use a concealer for darker blemishes.

At around 8 hours after application, the foundation still looked great! It took a couple more hours before my forehead started looking oily and in need of blotting. I also noticed the foundation breaking down on my cheeks by then. Considering how long I had been wearing it at the point, the longevity and performance was definitely impressive.

The P2,700 price tag may seem pretty steep but for the high quality finish and ease of application, it may just become your new HG foundation. I’ve been reaching for mine each time I need to use a base! Reboot is available this September with 24 shade options. I use the shade Y328.
