Staff Picks: The products we love to hoard

Raise your hand if you own more makeup and skincare than you know what to do with! I’m sure I’m not alone in this! I always thought that beauty was a great collector hobby to get into, since you can use and enjoy your purchases instead of simply putting them on display. Like any collection, we carefully create our beauty wardrobes to be filled with products that we love and can’t live without. And to make sure that we never run out, we get backups! Whether it’s by taking advantage of sales or friends traveling abroad, there are things we PV girls just need to stock up on:

Den: Ever since I had an incident of running out of brow product after having done only one brow, I’ve been more than a little obsessed about keeping a collection of pens, pencils, and mascaras. This way, I never have to worry about having to leave home with just one kilay ever again! I also like having different kinds of products available to suit various looks and to create a more natural-looking brow with varying shades and textures. Even in the kikay kit I tote around in my purse, I carry three pencils in light, medium, and dark shades in addition to my trusty K-palette brow!

Claire: For me, sheet masks are economical spa sessions. I love the idea of treating myself to a sheet mask every now and then, if only to unwind, gather my thoughts for the day, and get 15 minutes of me-time. Whenever I see a promo, I get one (or two, or ten). Before I knew it, I'd filled the Althea box I use to keep them in! It's okay because I know I'd eventually get around to using them. Plus I like "shopping" my stash to hunt for a mask to use according to my mood.

Khae: Primer is literally the anchor of any makeup look I have, regardless of whether or not I'm doing a full face. It helps me fill in my pores, allows for smoother product application, and keeps my oiliness at bay. It's not exactly hard to find, but the Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser is something I always make sure to hoard or snag a backup of because I'm always scared that I'll lose mine or run out!

Another must-have of mine is a waterproof drugstore mascara. Mascaras typically have a lifespan of around three months, so I try not to spend a lot on them. As someone with oily lids though, it can be difficult to find a product that works! So when I find good formulas for an affordable price, I tend to buy two at a time! During online sales, I always make sure to nab the Maybelline Lash Sensational or the L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise in Blackest Black since they always seem to be sold out in malls!.

Gett: Sorry for sounding like a broken record, but I just can’t be without my Heroine Make Volume and Curl Super Waterproof Mascara! Whenever I have friends going to Japan, or I go there myself, I make sure to buy a tube or two. So far, it’s been the only mascara that stays put on my oily lids and holds a curl all day! A bit of a bitch to remove, but it’s all worth the curl and staying power.

When I find an eyeliner that stays put on my oily lids, I buy it. I have a backup each of the Happy Skin Eye Am Here to Stay Gel Pencil and the Miss Hana Gel Eyeliner, which I discovered during my last trip to Taiwan. I’ve had to ask my friend to buy another one for me since then.

Finally, I go through cotton pads a lot since I use them up for skincare. I don’t have a brand I like yet, but I bought packs from Muji since they were so sulit for the amount of pads you’re getting.

Crystal: When asked what products I must always have backups of, the answer is easy peasy! I always have a backup supply of CosRX Acne Pimple Master Patch. These patches are life-changing! I just put one on a popped pimple and leave it overnight. The next day it's flat already. It takes me a month (or less) to go through a pack so I always buy in twos or threes.
