The difference between the three Selsun Blue Anti-Dandruff Shampoos

Selsun Blue hasn’t left my bathroom since I first discovered it over a year ago. I know, I was so late to the game, but I’m just happy that dandruff is no longer a problem for me! I make sure to keep backups so that I never run out in the middle of a shower. I only need to use it twice a week (it’s a treatment shampoo) and that’s enough to keep the flakes and itchiness away.

Selsun Blue is way more than the usual antidandruff shampoo - it is a scalp health expert that offers high-quality, effective dandruff solution without compromising hair and scalp’s condition. All Selsun Blue shampoos are formulated with Selenium Sulfide 1%, an anti-infective and antifungal agent, that has proven effectiveness in controlling dandruff from its root source and Honey Extract to moisturize, soften, and condition the hair and scalp.

There are three different variants of Selsun Blue out in the Philippines right now. If you’re new to Selsun Blue or just want to know more about the variants as a long-time user, this article is for you! Let’s discuss the difference between the three available anti-dandruff formulations and which one suits your hair concern best.

Selsun Blue PRO-X Extra Strength Anti-Dandruff Shampoo (P365 / 120ml) is for those who have a more severe case of dandruff. This is perfect for those with itchy scalp as it helps relieve itchiness and has menthol for a cooling effect. This one has the red cap and the color of the shampoo is a dark turquoise blue.

The Selsun Blue PRO Extra Moisturizing Anti-Dandruff Shampoo (P365 / 120ml) is the newest formula available in the market and is my current favorite. Aside from Honey Extract, this variant has Arginine HCL and Lysine HCL for that extra moisturizing feel on the hair and scalp. This works great for those with dry and damaged hair. The color of the shampoo is a light turquoise and this one has a green cap.

The Selsun Blue PRO 2-in-1 Anti-Dandruff Shampoo P(365 / 120ml) is more for normal hair. It is both a shampoo and a conditioner! Go for this if you don’t have an issue with frizz and dryness in general. This is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin B5 to deeply condition the hair. This variant was my go-to before Extra Moisturizing came out, and it served me well as part of my weekly shampoo rotation. The shampoo itself has a yellow color and it comes with the lavender cap.

My regular twice weekly Selsun Blue pick is the Extra Moisturizing, but when my dandruff flares up (rarely but it happens), that’s when I go for the Extra Strength. I highly recommend this brand if you have dandruff - it has helped me so much, as I hope it does the same for you!

Selsun Blue is available online at the official Mentholatum store in Lazada and Shopee. You may also get it from Watsons and Mercury Drugstores nationwide.
