Why the reformulated Oxecure Daily Sunscreen is worth checking out

I’ve been writing about beauty long enough to remember those ancient times when wearing sunscreen outside of a beach setting was almost unheard of. We’d whisper about the fussy few who’d do it but never really imagine slathering on this (previously) uncomfortable product on a daily basis. Look at us now. Sunscreen has become a religion, almost, and I for one have definitely reaped the benefits of using it regularly in the last decade.

And so, on to another sunscreen review! The Oxecure Daily Sunscreen (P119 for a 6g sachet / P549 for a 30g tube) is a new and improved version of the purely physical sunscreen they released last year. This time, it is both a physical and chemical sunscreen for the best level of protection at SPF50+ PA++++. It has Titanium Dioxide as a physical filter and Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl, Hexyl Benzoate, Ethylhexyl Triazone and Ethylhexyl Salicylate as chemical filters to provide both UVA and UVB protection. It also helps to soothe and hydrate the skin because of cactus and organic aloe vera extracts as these help breakdown and control excess sebum production. The Oxecure Daily Sunscreen is dermatologically-tested and specifically formulated for those with sensitive and acne-prone skin. Aside from sun protection, it also helps protect the skin from pollutants and prevent hyperpigmentation.

Sounds great, but how does it wear? That’s the most important question when it comes to a daily screen! Physical sunscreens are notoriously cosmetically inelegant. Titanium Dioxide is a pure white powder and looks white against the skin, instantly causing a white cast. There’s really no going around that - unless, you make the TD much less in amount than the chemical filters in the formula. That’s what the Oxecure Daily Sunscreen did to deliver a more comfortable and seamless formula . I personally don’t care for physical screens so I am totally ok with this.

I didn’t have any high hopes for this Oxecure sunscreen, to be honest. It looks gloopy and thick when squeezed out of the tube - it’s supposed to be water-based but it feels like a heavy cream. It goes on streaky but only at first. You have to spend some time blending it down with fingers, but once the white streaks are gone they are COMPLETELY gone, to my pleasant surprise. There is no hint even of grayness whatsoever, except skin looks a little bit more even, and dare I say a bit plumper. You just have to wrangle the formula down to coat your face evenly.

I love that it feels light and super smooth on skin, and gives my face a nice glow without looking at all greasy. It’s quite comfortable! I also like that it doesn’t sting my eyes, always a plus for sunscreen. Makeup hangs on to it well too! This formula is alcohol-free and fragrance-free so it’s good for sensitive and acne-prone skin.

I’m impressed. I would recommend the Oxecure Daily Sunscreen to anyone who’s looking for a daily drugstore facial sunscreen. I hope you can try it and let me know what you think!
