What makes these Oxecure products so effective for body acne? Plus, some tips on dealing with body breakouts

I used to think of acne as a punishment for me not being careful enough with my skin, not being more mindful of what I expose it to. But overtime I realized it’s just a natural function of skin to let me know what’s not working out in my routine. Often it’s also because of my hormones or stress, which I can’t do too much about. I’ve accepted it as a part of myself - not a flaw, but a built-in feature that I don’t have to hate.

Of course that doesn’t mean that I’ll just let acne take over my life. When they show up, I’m ready to calm them down as fast as I can! Body acne makes an appearance every once in a while. It’s not as frequent as pimples on my face but they do bother me since they can get achy.

Here’s what helps me deal with body acne:

  • I replace my sheets immediately. Body acne may be caused by bacteria that thrives in our sweat, oil, and hair follicles. So sleeping in fresh sheets and pillow cases can reduce exposure.

  • I don’t reuse shirts or bras as much as possible. Same reason as above, we want to keep away the bacteria! Never reuse workout clothes in particular.

  • We want to avoid sweating too much, so whenever possible, stay in a cool room and don’t go out during the day time.

  • Wear loose-fitting clothes and backpacks. Acne may actually be caused by constant rubbing on skin - same reason our skin gets irritated by face masks.

  • NEVER touch acne, wherever it is in your body. Stuff that’s in our fingernails or other surfaces we touch can transfer and worsen the condition. Make sure your hands are clean when you do have to touch.

  • Use skincare with active ingredients that help deal with bacteria growth.

As for the latter part, Oxecure has two products that they formulated specifically for body acne. The first is the Oxecure Sulfur Soap (Php89 / 30g and Php249 / 100g from Lazada). Sulfur has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and also helps control excess oil from the skin. The Oxecure soap has 2.5% sulfur in it which makes it highly effective.

The best part? It doesn’t smell bad. You know what I mean! Sulfur products tend to have a strong, unpleasant scent because sulfur itself smells terrible. But this one has light green tea scent that makes it nice to use in the shower. There’s a hint of that sulfuric scent but it’s masked by the fragrance. (Btw fragrance is ok in skincare in small amounts naman, unless you’re actually allergic).

Oxecure’s Body Acne Spray (Php299 / 25ml and Php459 / 50ml from Lazada)) has 2% salicylic acid in it. Salicylic acid is a highly effective active ingredient when it comes to exfoliation, hence it removes pore blockages that contribute to acne. It helps dry breakouts faster, and allow them to heal better so they don’t darken as much. The best part is that the Oxecure Body Acne Spray is dermatologically tested to visibly reduce acne in as fast as 1 week*!

For the routine, wash with the soap first then when your skin is dry, use the spray (very useful in hard-to-reach areas). Do it daily until the acne dries up! It should take about a couple of weeks of daily use. Then from there, it can be on an as-needed basis, especially when you feel your back is going to break out again.

I recommend trying out these two from Oxecure to deal with acne issues. The formulation is simple, but it’s focused and effective.
