An affordable daily base: The Maybelline Fit Me Fresh Tint with Vitamin

I've been on a roll lately with trying out skin tints! The hot weather regardless of the time of the year is perfect for using these. Supposedly lighter in feel and coverage than my well-liked tinted moisturizers, this type of base makeup provides glowy, even skin.

The Maybelline Fit Me Fresh Tint with Vitamin C (P399) is a "2-in-1 makeup and skincare product". The makeup part comes from its light coverage while the skincare part comes from the Vitamin C which may help brighten skin over time. It also has SPF 50/PA+++ for sun protection, making it well-suited to tropical climates.

There are 6 shades available but I only had 06, 07, and 08 on hand. Out of the three shades, the closest to my skin is 06 though it is slightly warmer than I’m used to. Maybelline recommends applying this with your finger or a preferred makeup applicator like a brush or a sponge. I’ve tried using both my fingers and a brush to apply and got satisfactory results. I prefer how my fingers blended in the product more as it runs thicker than other skin tints and using a brush can be prone to streaking if I’m not careful. I like the ease of a brush though when I don’t want to keep cleaning my hands after every application.

Skin tints usually don't provide much coverage but this one claims that it "visibly minimizes dark spots". They do recommend using the Fit Me Concealer and the Fit Me Compact Powder with this though but I find that the Fit Me Fresh Tint is enough for my daily concerns. It covers up the pores on my nose, redness, even my under eye area. I just add concealer for my under eyes if I want to brighten it up some more.

I like how it also lasts quite a while. I’ve worn it to site visits for work (no aircon, with dust) and long dinners with friends. I can push it to eight hours without even setting it with powder~ Do take note though that I have dry skin and during this time of the year, it feels even drier.

All things considered though, this is a good skin tint for me especially because of the price. I’ve noticed that I’ve been reaching for it frequently too and not just because I’m testing it out. This product makes my base routine quick and easy.

The only con I have for this might just be personal preference but I don’t really feel the skincare benefit in this product. I’ve tried tinted serums and other skin tints and those feel more skincare than pigment. This Maybelline one feels more makeup than skincare. It’s also too early for me to say if the Vitamin C in it works so I can’t vouch for it yet. But if you’re looking for a lightweight base with some SPF and Vitamin C at an affordable price, then this can work for you.

You can get the Maybelline Fit Me Fresh Tint with Vitamin C online at Maybelline's Lazada Flagship Store and Shopee Official Store. This is also available at Watsons and SM stores.
