New at In Her Element: The Masknegel, a P445 spot treatment for zits that need to leave

The year 2020 has brought us many problems, and one of them is maskne. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that it’s been such a drag! No matter how perfect my skincare routine is, just wearing masks so often for long periods of time causes pimples to form up where the masks rubs on it. Of course, there’s the extra humidity because of our breath and sweat, so my skin gets irritated easily. Dermatologist Nikki Paderna wrote about maskne in her PV column and her tips have helped me deal with it!

One thing that I’ve found really works for me is salicylic acid as a spot treatment. I buy the alcohol + salicylic acid powder solution available in drugstores, but it stings like crazy as it’s not meant to be used on the face. So, I thought of creating with our chemist at In Her Element something that works just as well if not better. Hence, the Masknegel was born (P445 / 10ml at inherelement.ph).

The Masknegel works because of three powerful ingredients: madecassoside, which is derived from the Centella Asiatica plant, salicylic acid (from willow tree bark), and tea tree oil (from tea tree leaves). It’s a potent gel, so you only need to dot a small amount on spots. There’s a mild sting when it’s newly applied, but goes away after a few seconds. It helps a lot with redness from an angry flare up due to its soothing ingredients. It also exfoliates the area fast because of the salicylic acid concentration!

Personally, I find that this lessens irritation within 2-3 days, and completely dries the spot in 5-6 days. Because of the beta hydroxy acid (BHA) content, it the area may peel off after a few days so there’s less of a mark. Here’s what mine looked like:

I recommend using this in the morning and at night after cleansing until the spot dries. It can also be worn under makeup since it dries totally clear. So cool right? Get the Masknegel at inherelement.ph, Shopee, and Lazada! It will be in Beauty Bar and BeautyMNL in a couple of weeks too! <3 Thank you so much for supporting our local brand!
