Editor’s Pick: Why the Laneige Perfect Pore Cleansing Oil is my current makeup remover
There was a time when I was all about micellar water cleansing, but after a few years of that I just got tired of using two separate makeup removers for my face. Before, I’d swipe on micellar water or wipe to remove foundation and eyebrows, then use a biphase (oil + micellar water) remover for my waterproof eye makeup. I liked this routine since my skin felt cleaner afterwards as opposed to using oil. I also liked that I didn’t turn my face into old makeup soup - you know what I mean! It’s when your mascara is on your lips and your lipstick is on your eyes na because you used an oil cleanser and massaged it all over.
ANYWAY. When everything is said and done it’s just faster to use two pumps of cleansing oil, massage, then rinse. It’ll all be removed by facial wash afterwards! I’m a huge fan of DHC and of course Shu Uemura, but I think I may have found a ~slightly~ cheaper alternative to both: the Laneige Perfect Pore Cleansing Oil (P1,360 for 250ml at Althea PH).
I purchased this a few months ago at Althea and liked how much product I get in the bottle. It removes makeup well enough. Honestly, it doesn’t quite cut through product as effectively as DHC or Shu Uemura, but it gets there with a reasonable amount of work. Long-wearing makeup comes off with no residue It can remove Majolica Majorca’s Lash King and L’Oreal’s Lash Paradise (the waterproof one!) so all is right in the world. Those two mascaras are the toughest makeup to take off in my collection so as long as this oil can take care of them, I’m happy with it.
I also love that my eyes don’t sting if the oil gets on them; they get cloudy when the oil emulsifies but it doesn’t feel like I’m burning my eyeballs. It’s easy to wash out.
My only complaint would be that it does smell and taste a bit soapy. It’s my first time to experience this in ANY cleansing oil, so that’s strange! It doesn’t bother me that much but it did take some getting used to.
Overall, if you think you can get past the soapiness of this, the Laneige Perfect Pore Cleansing Oil is a good addition to your cleansing routine. I think I’m going to finish the whole bottle!
