Hydration Meets Convenience: A Review of the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm
I’ve been using the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask for years, and I think I’ve tried almost every flavor they’ve come up with. It’s such a staple in my routine that you’ll always find it in my online shopping cart, waiting for the next sale to restock. It has a permanent spot on my bedside table and is a must-have in my travel pouch. It just works so well for my dry lips! I’ve experimented with other brands, but I always end up going back to Laneige—there’s a reason it’s beloved , after all.
That said, I do have one little gripe with it: the packaging. Since it comes in a pot, it’s not the most hygienic or convenient to use, especially when I’m on the go. Sure, the regular-sized version comes with a spatula, but let’s be honest—there are days when I just want a no-fuss way to reapply my favorite lip balm wherever I am.
The good news? We can now bring Laneige’s lip-loving goodness wherever we go, thanks to the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm, which is finally available in the Philippines! I’ve been eyeing this adorable and portable version online for ages, but it wasn’t until recently that I could actually get my hands on it. Naturally, I didn’t hold back. I snapped up all four flavors as soon as they launched on their online shop: Berry, Gummy Bear, Vanilla, and Sweet Candy.
The Laneige Lip Glowy Balm (P810/10g) is described as “a lightweight, moisture-coating lip balm for hydrated, tinted, and kissable lips throughout the day.” In the Philippines, we currently have four regular shades available, plus the limited edition Candy Cane flavor for the holidays. While there are more shades available abroad, it’s great to have this festive addition locally.
I decided to open Gummy Bear first to compare it with the Lip Sleeping Mask I’ve been using. To my surprise, it feels much more moisturizing and less sticky than I remember from when I tried it before. It seems like Laneige may have updated the formula, and the result is a lighter, daytime-friendly version of the Lip Sleeping Mask. However, when my lips are feeling especially dry, I still reach for the Lip Sleeping Mask for that extra hydration boost.
In terms of application, the Lip Glowy Balm is significantly more convenient to apply. The transparent built-in applicator helps you dispense just the right amount you need.
It’s worth noting that the Lip Glowy Balm, at P81 per gram, is pricier than the Lip Sleeping Mask, which comes in at P50 per gram. What we’re really paying for here is the convenience of its easy-to-use applicator and just the right amount of moisture for everyday use.
I also noticed a super subtle tint in some flavors. Gummy Bear has a light purple hue, while Berry gives a pinkish tint, which makes them great as a glossy topper for your favorite lip color. And here’s an extra cute bonus: I’ve seen people online attaching these balms to their keyrings. It’s such a fun way to carry them around!
