New Now: The limited edition Kiehl's packaging that's inspired by the PH

While one can reasonably expect for a homegrown brand to celebrate its roots, it's quite a statement for a global powerhouse to fête the Filipino! Last month, Kiehl’s commemorated National Independence Day with a pop-up store at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium. The theme was ‘Kiehl’s Loves the Philippines,’ during which they showed an exhibit of the brand’s history as well as interactive stations that celebrate Filipino cultural icons.

Did you know that Kiehl’s has been in the practice of giving out free samples since the 70’s? You can even step into a Kiehl’s boutique for a free consultation! If you've ever wondered if you were dry or oily, Kiehl's actually measures the amount of sebum on your forehead and cheeks to determine your correct skin type. They also consider your skin concerns, lifestyle, and current skincare routine to do their best to identify the best Kiehl's products to suit your needs before sending you home with free samples. This is a great way to try what the brand has to offer, and saves you from having to figure out which products will give you the best results.

Social responsibility is also an important part of Kiehl’s as a company, so they make it a point to support organizations like the Autism Society of the Philippines to subsidize its services. Their sponsorship makes services like therapy sessions more economically accessible, as the usual P700 per session becomes only P50! I for one am more likely to buy from a brand that supports a good cause, so kudos to Kiehl’s for this initiative!

The highlight of the event was the limited edition packaging by New York-based artist Ali Mac. She combined the sights of New York with funky images drawn from Filipino culture, resulting in colorful and unique designs! The designs are only available for four of their bestsellers, which are all lightweight formulas that are suitable for the humid PH climate. The limited edition packaging is available for the crowd-favorite Midnight Recovery Concentrate (P2,895), a night serum that revives dull-looking skin and has a relaxing lavender scent that can help you get a good night’s sleep. The Calendula Herbal Extract Toner (P2,425) has been another popular buyer's choice since the 1960’s as the alcohol-free formula refreshes and hydrates normal to oily skin while still being mild enough for those with sensitive skin. The Creamy Undereye Treatment with Avocado Oil (P1,725) is true to its name - a rich treatment that moisturizes with avocado oil and shea butter without feeling too heavy. Finally, the Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream (P1,625) can help you cool down on a hot day as it has a mild, cooling effect on the skin. Being a gel, it works best for hydrating normal to oily skin types as well.

For a minimum purchase of P4,000 inclusive of any of these limited edition products, shoppers will also get a free Kiehl’s Loves the Philippines tote bag, while a minimum purchase of P6,000 allows them to take home a Kiehl’s Loves the Philippines umbrella. These gifts are available until supplies last.

Kiehl's is available at Greenbelt 5, Rockwell, Shangrila Plaza, Trinoma, Alabang Town Center, SM Mall of Asia, SM Makati, SM Aura, SM Megamall, SM North EDSA, Robinsons Magnolia, UP Town Center, Podium, and Ayala Center Cebu.
