The Hello Glow Acne Defense Set is a great find for the tweens and teens in your life

This story is brought to you by Hello Glow.

I get asked a lot by my mom and tita friends about skincare I can recommend to their tweens and teens. For young skin, I always tell them not to use anything too harsh, with too many strong actives; their skin is still quite resilient and can heal fast. Most of the time they really just need something for maintenance so building that habit is important in the beginning. A simple routine that’s comfortable and affordable is important, otherwise they can’t maintain the habit. You know what they say - the best skincare is the one you actually like to use!

I like to recommend Hello Glow as a good starter skincare brand. All their products are made in Korea which means you get the best practices when it comes to formulation. The best thing though is how affordable everything is - most sets are under P500, and individual products play just under P200. Let me share their latest release, something I think younger people would love!

The Hello Glow Acne Defense Set (P275) is focused on helping skin more prone to breakouts. The star ingredients are salicylic acid and green tea, which does help with skin exfoliation and calming irritation respectively. There are three products in the set: The Acne Solutions Cleansing Gel, Pore Tight Repairing Toner, and Acne Spot Drying Cream.

Before anything else, I just want to say that I totally did a double take when I saw the price of this set. It’s P275 for THREE items! The facial wash and the toner are both 100ml, while the Drying Cream is 15ml. Wtf, right? It’s such great value.

But how’s the formula? I like these because the salicylic acid content is not so strong. For me, that makes them great maintenance products that can be used everyday without irritating the skin. As a BHA, salicylic acid can cause peeling and stinging and must be used carefully. In this set it’s enough that you get mild exfoliation but without the hassle. Again, for tween/teen skin, it’s best to avoid super intense actives unless a dermatologist recommends it.

I like that the Acne Solutions Cleansing Gel has a super mild barely there herby scent which I think even those sensitive to fragrances would appreciate. It delivers a rich lather that’s satisfying to wash off! I do wish it’s a low pH cleanser (the pH of this cleanser is at 10 according to my test strips) but if the user is not sensitive naman to high pH then it’s ok for every day.

The Pore Tight Repairing Toner is a lovely hydrating toner that again has that mild herby scent. It has glycerin, tea tree oil, allantoin, and centella asiatica extract that leaves skin feeling soft and calm. If you don’t want to use a moisturizer because it feels heavy and oily on skin, this toner layered a few times will be a sufficient hydrator.

Third and last in the routine is the Acne Spot Drying Cream. This is meant to be applied directly on spots to help calm and exfoliate them. Again it has a light scent and a whipped gel texture. Pro tip: this can even be used as a moisturizer all over the face if you need more hydration!

Overall, I would recommend the Hello Glow Acne Defense Set (P275) to skincare beginners who want something that’s perfect for everyday use but with a bit of an exfoliating active. Get this now from the Hello Glow Lazada Flagship Store.
