The new local foundation in town: Happy Skin's Ready To Glow Powder and Liquid base

Happy Skin is most famous for their lipsticks but if you ask me, their face bases are so underrated! I’ve been a fan of their Don’t Get Mad, Get Even foundation line since it launched five years ago. I felt a little sad when they discontinued it, but lucky for us Happy Skin has a sneaky plan in place: they actually replaced DGMGE with a new and improved version called Ready To Glow!

What’s nice about this line is that it features Japanese blue light shielding technology to protect the skin from the blue light emanating from our gadgets and the sun, SPF25 PA++ for extra protection, and Vitamin C for brightening.

But how do the products actually perform? I have a YouTube video on it showing what it looks like when applied on my bare face, so please watch if you want to see the transformation. The coverage level is medium, I’d say, and it has a demi-matte finish. It’s sooo easy to apply!

In terms of staying power, I like that Ready To Glow stays on for a good 8 hours minimum before it starts to fade on my oily combination skin. It’ll need retouching by hour 3 or 4 depending on how you’ve spent your day, but it never looks cakey on me.

The Happy Skin Ready To Glow Liquid + Powder foundation. Looks fantastic no? It’s so skin-like!

Happy Skin Ready To Glow Foundation in Honey Beige

The caveat: there are only three shades available. I already used the darkest shade (Honey Beige) for both the powder and liquid so I would say the shade range is for light to medium tones only. I asked the Happy Skin team why that is and they said that they focused more on the undertone (neutral, pink, yellow) and have found that the product adjusts to a person’s shade. I agree that some adjustment happens as it’s not a full coverage foundation line, but that’s only up to a point.

I really hope that Happy Skin comes out with more shades for their foundation line. That’ll make the line more inclusive and therefore more competitive.

Let me know what you think of this new line, especially if you’ve already tried it!
