Swatches and Review: The Happy Skin Lip Slip might just be your new daily lip color

Do you still wear full coverage lipstick? I do, but rarely. Most days it’s a tinted lip balm for me or a lipstick, smudged onto the lips, then set with a balm after. I reserve a full color only on days when I’m going out to dressy thing but otherwise it feels overdone. Do you agree? Or is it just me? The pandemic has really changed so many things!

Happy Skin recently released their latest lip formula called the Lip Slip (P399 for 3.5 grams) and I’ve been testing it out for a few days now. It fits right into my life considering my current lip color preferences, so right off the bat I’ve been enjoying it! The formula is hydrating on the lips without feeling waxy and heavy. It’s scentless too. There are six shades available and they’re all wearable - of course, it’s Happy Skin!

First thing I noticed was that the color selection was more interesting than usual. You’ve got a peach, pink, rose, mauve, which deviates a bit from Happy Skin’s usual selection of browns. This collection is also subdivided into two categories: pigmented and sheer, with three shades each between them.

I have two colors with me: Unplug, which swatches as a pigmented cocoa, and Weekend, which is a sheer browny peach. Both are very similar when worn with Weekend still remaining a tad sheer after heavy application. Unplug is opaque already when fully applied and reminds me of one of Happy Skin’s best-selling shades of all time, a color called Under The Sheets. That’s an in-brand dupe if you’re looking for a new tube! Since the two colors are similar, I’d go for Unplug since I can sheer it out easily.

The color doesn’t last very long - this is a balm and not intended for staying power as a primary purpose - so expect about two hours of wear time. Re-application is a breeze though so it’s nice to have one in your bag just in case.

Overall, I will definitely be keeping these tubes with me as part of my daily rotation. I’ve been playing tennis again so it’s nice to have a balm to just swipe on as I leave the house at 5:30 in the morning haha. Try it out if you’re looking for a new tinted balm, and let me know what you think!
