Editor's Picks: My current favorite lip balm is the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment

It might just be my age, but I find that my skin is drier and drier every year. That also goes for my lips. I rarely had chapped, flaky lips so it's a bit frustrating that I'm getting them more often now! I actually use an amazing overnight lip mask to help with that but during the day, my fave lip balm at the moment is the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment (P1,387 at Sephora.ph).

Fresh is an American brand which was founded in 1991 by a couple who curated skincare products from around the world in their Boston shop. Finally, it's available in the Philippines via Sephora PH! They sent me quite a lot of stuff to try out (the masks are BOMB) but since I haven't photographed all the products yet, I thought I'd get the ball rolling with one of their most iconic products.

The Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Rosé was launched eight years ago and as I recall, became one of the most popular lip balms out there despite of the price. If you google "Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Rosé dupes" lots of results will come up! So what makes it special? Looking at the ingredients list, it's beeswax-based but contains quite a few oils (castor oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, and grape seed oil) to give it a more lush, buttery glide compared to a balm like Burt's Bees.

I find it more moisturizing than Burt's Bees, definitely. It doesn't just sit on top sealing my lips, it also nourishes my lips because of the heavy oil content. It never feels greasy or waxy though; it makes a fairly thin layer for such a hydrating balm.

This Fresh balm in Rosé has a light pink tint. It's barely there, truth be told, but I do appreciate the color it adds to my pale lips. There are 13 other variants though and you can even go for the untinted one if you prefer. Personally, I'm not looking for my balm to color my lips as I use it before lipstick application to prime; I'd hate for it to influence the lip color I do want to wear for the day.

It also bears mentioning that the Sugar Lip Treatment has SPF15, so you get sun protection every time you refresh your balm during the day.

Overall, I love the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment and would recommend it to those with super dry lips who prefer a light-textured, truly moisturizing balm. It's very pricey for a lip balm so that can be discouraging, but if it fits your budget, then I think you won't regret it.

Let me know what you think!
