Budget Beauty: One eyebrow palette, two eye makeup looks

Historically, women like buying affordable luxuries like red lipstick and face powder after a crisis. But after COVID-19, I bet most of us will be keeping our masks on and our lips covered. With the bottom half of their faces covered, people are choosing to play up their eyes and brows. Sales of eyeshadow palettes and other types of eye makeup have increased dramatically, according to Inquirer. They called it the “eyeliner effect”.

If you’re looking to upgrade your eye makeup game without spending too much, consider maximizing an eyebrow palette like this Pink Sugar one. It doesn’t have to be this palette, specifically, as any similar one will do. We’d just like to give you some ideas!

The Honey I’m Good Palette (P399) has three brow powders and one colored eyebrow wax. The brow powders are matte, super pigmented, and they come in three shades of brown. The eyebrow wax comes on the other hand in a dark brown shade.

The devil works hard but Pink Sugar obviously works harder: this palette is so versatile! Although it’s marketed as an eyebrow palette, this can double as eyeshadow, eyeliner and a nose contour product.  Odes have been written to this palette here. As eyeshadow, the Pink Sugar brow powders are great for anything from a wash of color to a full-on smokey eye. The neutral shades and the pigmentation of the powder make them so easy to use!

Like Rosy Soo, I use this palette with the Korean eye make-up style. I apply a coral lipstick as eyeshadow first, then dab the lightest brown shade on the outer-V. For the liner, I trace out a puppy eye with the brown wax and go over it with the darkest brown shade. It’s not going to be as sweat proof as a separate gel liner but the soft, blurred liner works for a mabait look.

Doing my eyes like this gives me some use out of my small hoard of lipsticks, while also creating a fresh look. The Honey I’m Good palette adds depth and prevents the eye look from looking too rabbity red.

Here’s a peg from Rosy if you want to go the more dramatic route. This is a beautiful gradient matte eye that should work with all shapes. Just apply the darkest brown shade first, then blend it out with the the mid-brown then the lightest brown. Pro tip: use a wet brush to get richer pigmentation near your lash line!

This just shows that you don’t need 10 eyeshadows to create a striking eye look. How are you maximizing your eye makeup products?
