So pretty! An in-depth review of the Ellana Satin Stain Shine Liquid Lip and Cheek

I’ve become a super fan of shiny, plump, and slightly overlined lips. They look fresh and youthful compared to the matte lip look, and the juicy finish just feels more apt for summer! It also used to be a challenge to find a glossy lip product that wasn’t sticky and provided opaque coverage, but that all changed with the new Ellana Satin Stain Shine Liquid Lip and Cheek (P699 from Ellana).

Ellana’s Satin Stain Shine Liquid Lip and Cheek is a water-based lipstick with a glossy finish and lip plumping effect. I literally fell in love at first swipe, thanks to the moisturizing properties of Mung Bean and Olive extracts plus the incredible pigmentation! These colors are opaque in one swipe, but can be easily thinned down if you prefer a soft gradient look. Although the finish looks “juicy”, it feels comfortable on my lips and is never sticky. The formula doesn’t quite dry down - it remains moist and shiny even after more than 5 hours of wear (I accidentally fell asleep while wearing it!), and it keeps my lips feeling hydrated.

The downside of having such a hydrating formula means that these lipsticks aren’t meant to be long-wearing, and it will leave a mark on whatever you’re drinking. I don’t mind this at all as smacking my lips together helps to redistribute the color, and it’s very easy to retouch after eating. I recommend wiping the existing product off your lips first though, so you can remove all traces of food first and keep re-application more hygienic.

#positivevibes on my cheeks and #lovewins on my lips

I also love wearing these colors on the cheeks. I was initially worried that the glossy finish would mean that it would feel heavy or sticky on my cheeks, but my fears were completely unfounded. They don’t disrupt my foundation and are easy to blend whether I use my fingers or a disposable sponge. Just three dots per cheek is enough to give a pretty flush, and I have ample time to blend it seamlessly into my base. Best of all, the last more than 6 hours of wear!

Speaking of shades, there are six options to choose from:

  • #happiness is a warm brown nude perfect for casual wear. Worn on the cheeks, this is perfect for the nude blush look and is one of my favorites.

  • #believe is described as a deep salmon pink, but it looks more bright to me. It’s a color I usually stay away from but I was shocked that this suited my skin tone well and made my complexion look brighter.

  • #positivevibes is a brick red that will fit most if not all skin tones. I also love using this on my cheeks because it makes me look more mature and sophisticated.

  • #lovewins is described as a deep peach but registers a bright red-orange on me. This color makes me look instantly fresh, and gives me an image of an outgoing, fun-loving girl.

  • #selflove is my favorite to wear on the lips. It is a deep red color that is a bit more mature and makes me feel strong and powerful.

  • #motivation is a lilac that I find has a lot of white in it and feels like a borderline pastel, but the shade seems to turn a bit deeper as you wear it.

The stain of that the lipsticks leave behind is quite light, except for #motivation which gives the best and most beautiful pinkish plummy stain. It may not be my favorite when freshly applied, but given a bit of time to settle and stain, it is definitely the best one out of all the colors! I got a lot of compliments while wearing this stain.

I love the Ellana Satin Stain Shine Liquid Lip and Cheek tints, and will definitely be wearing them often. They’re comfortable to wear even in this hot summer weather, and my lips look super plump and cute! Have you tried these yet? Let us know what you think!
