Ths is super easy! Our DIY green tea sugar scrub

I’ve been living alone for quite a while now. Well, sort of. My little sister and I stay in a connecting condo unit, which we maintain by ourselves. Living independently is an amazing experience, but hurts my pocket more than anything else. I’ve needed to learn how to properly budget my money, and set strict rules for myself on what I can and cannot spend on. I’m so thrifty that I sometimes feel guilty when I indulge myself in a brow waxing session! On the bright side, independent life has taught me to be extra creative, including keeping a constant lookout for affordable ways to still look amazing.

Making homemade scrubs are fun, easy, and very budget-friendly! In fact, most of the ingredients needed are readily available in your kitchen, which is also an advantage to those who want to stay away from chemical concoctions. I love this particular scrub because it incorporates green tea into your skincare. Green tea has plenty of antioxidants and anti-inflammatories that are good for your skin. The only problem, at least for me, is that green tea is an acquired taste. Lucky are those who can drink a whole cup!

If you’re like me - an incredibly picky eater obsessed with green tea beauty products - or just someone who is looking for more ways to incorporate green tea in their lifestyle without spending too much, then this quick and easy DIY green tea scrub is something you’ll enjoy!

What you'll need:

  1. 2 cups of white or brown sugar
  2. 2 green tea bags with the dry leaves removed
  3. 1/4 cup of coconut or olive oil. If you want an extra luxe experience, use argan oil!
  4. Optional: Vitamin E from a gel capsule or a drop of essential oil of your choice

Step 1: In a bowl, mix the sugar and green tea together.

Step 2: Add your choice of oil/s. If you're using a Vitamin E capsule, crush it and squeeze out the contents into your mix.

Step 3: Mix everything together, and you're ready to exfoliate!

It’s best to exfoliate at night right before going to bed, or during the weekend when you have time to gently slather this all over your body. Leave it on for a few minutes to let the ingredients do their work. Rinse everything off with lukewarm water then towel dry your skin. ^_^ The oils should be enough to hydrate your skin but if you feel like you need an extra dose, go ahead and put on your favorite moisturizer!

We'd love to see you try this scrub and get back to us about the results!
