A holiday-ready look with the the Bobbi Brown Wine & Chocolate Collection

I have always held a secret hope that Bobbi Brown will visit the Philippines someday. I admire her talent and statement that women can be pretty powerful with only a few products. I admire her business acumen, growing her brand from her first nude lipstick into the global empire it is 25 years later! I was devastated to hear that she's leaving her namesake company by the end of the year. But I understand that she wants to do new things - it has, indeed, been 25 years after all.

My only consolation is that the brand will continue her work with more new products to be excited about. Here are a few things that are just perfect for the holidays!

The Bobbi Brown Wine & Chocolate Collection recently dropped in stores, and it's definitely something to salivate over if you love that particular color story. It has two new palettes, the Chocolate Eye Palette and Wine Eye Palette (P3,300 each), three Sequin Eye Shadows, three new shades of the Luxe Lip Color (P1,700), and two shades of Brightening Blush (P3,350). You can see more product info and photos in the bottom! For now, I'd like to share my quick thoughts on the Wine Eye Palette, which was sent over by the Bobbi Brown team.

Beautiful, luxe packaging always gets me

The Wine Eye Palette has four warm eyeshadow shades and three seriously pigmented eyeliner shades. Frappe is a great subtle crease shade, while Moon Glow is a sandy beige shade (great as a lid wash or brow bone highlight). For a more intense, evening-ready look, work in Black Cocoa for that luscious, twinkly smoke, and Molten Chocolate for a flash of cozy bronze.

The eyeliners are pretty good too! Pinot Noir is a deep chocolate brown, Malbec is a wine-y brown, and Night is a charcoal black. The swatches below are dry; for more intense pigmentation, I dip my brush in a bit of water first before application. Pinot Noir and Night actually looks great as eyebrow powder too, which makes this palette quite convenient to have around.

In the look below, I used Molten Chocolate on the lids, Black Cocoa near the lash line for a gradient smoky look and Malbec as eyeliner. Frappe went into my crease while Moon Glow was my brow highlight! I love how the colors worked well together. Did I mention I didn't even need a primer to get this kind of pigmentation?

I can see the Bobbi Brown Wine Eye Palette becoming one of the most treasured pieces in my collection. The palette's packaging is beautiful with that faux brown leather upper on a gold case! The colors are something I can use until the end, too. Get this if you love collecting beautiful palettes that will stand the test of time.

I also have the Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick in Naked (P3,300) which I believe was part of the brand's Fall collection. I reviewed a Brightening Brick a few years ago and quite liked it as an overall illuminating powder. Naked, however, has a more shimmery finish that lends itself as a great subtle highlighter. The shade is as nude as the name suggests; you can barely see it, unless the light hits it just so.

Here's a swatch of Naked in two different kinds of lighting. It tints the skin a pretty golden beige!

In the FOTD below, I dusted Naked lightly all over my face. It looks great from afar - my skin seems to have this inner glow - but up close my pores are more exposed. This powder is definitely more for highlighting only certain points of the face! You can of course use it all over if you like how it looks.

Overall, I recommend the Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick in Naked to with medium to deep skin who prefer a more natural highlight. ^_^ If you're fair, this can work as a natural bronzer! It stays on for hours in one place without the sparkly bits smearing around, which makes it reliable in our weather.

What do you think? Are you liking anything new from Bobbi Brown?
