A good 269-peso powder: The Essence All About Matt!

The heat is extra intense lately, no? I'm sure we've also been oilier and sweatier than usual too. If your current base makeup can't handle it anymore, it may be time to add an extra layer of translucent powder like the Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder (P269 from Watsons). This is a scentless setting and retouch powder that is colorless and gives skin a velvety matte finish, yet zero coverage. It has a lightweight texture to ensure that your foundation won't cake even after several layers!

My normal face base routine involves a CC cream (or liquid foundation, depending on where I'm going), a concealer, and a thin layer of powder foundation to set it all in one place. But recently I find that it's no longer enough; it's better to add a touch of colorless powder like All About Matt! to keep my face from shining up too early. With this powder, I get an extra hour or two of reprieve.

This is a thick swatch. Otherwise, All About Matt! barely shows up on skin other than to mattify and smoothen the surface.

All About Matt! is fairly straightforward to apply: pick up a fluffy powder brush and deposit a thin layer of it on just your T-zone or all over your face. To retouch, just pat it on where you're oily! I wish it came with a mirror and even a puff but ah well, it is less than 300 bucks.

I also suggest to be careful about where you store it. The powder is fragile as it is very thin, so it looks like it might shatter easily upon impact.

Now that's a matte that isn't flat!

Overall, I highly recommend the Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder if you love having a velvet matte finish at all times. Buy two - one for your dresser and one for your bag haha. I love it and will definitely continue to use it. Once again, Essence shows that it's a cheap yet competitive brand that won't put German innovation to shame.

Would love to know what you think, especially if you've already tried it!

Essence is available in Watsons and Beauty by SM stores.
