See what's inside the Glamourbox x BYS Matte Maven Box

It's unboxing time again! I've got another awesome Glamourbox x BYS collab for you today. Remember the success of the first one? It offered great value for money since it contained full-sized items specifically curated to create a professional look. The box price was just a third of the retail price, which made it attractive to BYS fans as well as those who want to try the brand for the first time.

In the second instalment of this Glamourbox, BYS offers its best-selling mattes in the special edition Matte Maven. Matte Maven retails for P1,100 (excluding the shipping fee) and contains P3,044 worth of items. Here's what's inside, plus swatches!

The box contains an eyeliner, a brow liner, a nail polish, lipstick, matte eyeshadow palette, and a contour & highlighting kit. These are handpicked to create a sexy matte look with lots of definition on the face and subtle hints of colors on the lids and lips.

I think we can all agree that the real heart-stopper here is the BYS Contour & Highlighting Kit (P1,099). It's a large box with four colors that you need for creating light and shadow on your face. The shades are all gorgeous, smooth, and pigmented. I would prefer if they were less pigmented actually but they're easy enough to manage with a light hand.

I find the palette labeled a bit oddly. The first two are matte colors called "Bronzers". The third color is a "Contour" shade, while the last is a "Highlighter" (which is correct). If you ask me the first two are for contouring and the third one with shimmer is for bronzing.

The Matte Lipstick in Latte To Go (P299) is a pretty, full-bodied nude, but it's too nude for me. If you see the swatch below, it's a flesh-toned color that almost matches my own skin tone. It has a pink undertone to it - great if you have fairer, cooler skin - but I would prefer a warmer base to suit my own coloring.

The Liquid Brow Pen in Natural Brown (P449) looks promising but the color isn't quite natural brown. I'd say it goes on to orange on the skin. Right now I have red orangey hair but this doesn't work on my undyed eyebrows.

The Eyeshadow 8 Palette Neutrals (P499) has a nice assortment of matte shades that can go from dainty to sultry. I wish they were more pigmented but they look much better with an eyeshadow primer.

I have yet to try the Eyeliner Gel in Black Magic (P549) and the Matte Nail Enamel (P199) so no comments on that. I do like how intense the liner is though!

Overall, I find the Glamourbox x BYS Matte Maven Box quite sulit if you love the textures and colors presented here. It's definitely worth getting if you were about to buy the Contour & Highlighting Kit anyway; at P1,099 in the mall, you might as well pay one peso more (well, plus shipping) to get the rest of the products you need to complete your perfect matte look. ^_^

Besides, if you don't like the other stuff, you can gift them to your kikay friends and family this Christmas. How's that for maximizing your purchases? Would love know what you think!
