Happy Skin's new store + the Read My Lips Holiday 2015 Collection

Have you seen Happy Skin's first standalone store? It's such a beautiful place to, well, be beautiful! The lovely interiors were designed by none other than Heima and accessorized with West Elm items. You should visit it if you like taking your time to shop for makeup, soaking in the ambiance and reveling in the Instagram-worthy backdrops while swatching the afternoon away.

Check out what it looks like inside!

So gorgeous no? The store is in Glorietta 3, in the hall near the entrance of Rustan's. ^_^ When you're there, you should also check out Happy Skin's Holiday 2015 Collection called Read My Lips. Find the brand's well-loved lippies in gold-stamped, hardbound "books" which can be reused to store your trinkets and other whats-its. The packaging is amazing, as always, and the lippie shades are designed to hit a flattering home run.

Each set has one of the four Happy Skin lippie formulas: the How To Take The Perfect Selfie Moisturizing Lippie Set (P1,499, the original with a satin finish), the How To Make A Statement Moisturizing Matte Lippie (P1,099), the weightless How To Conquer The World Moisturising Lip Lacquer Set (P1,199), and the How To Make Beauty Effortless Lip & Cheek Mousse for double-duty envy (P1,199).

I have with me the new Lip & Cheek Mousse colors, so yeah, swatches!

I swear these new mousses feel...different. The old formula feels lighter and doesn't fully set. These ones though are heavier in pigment. They set in a fine glove around my lips, stay on FOREVER (ok about 4-5 hours) and all this while being delightfully hydrating! I never need a lip balm with these. I actually don't recommend using a lip balm if you want to retain the great staying power.

The shades are both beautiful - at this point, I think we shan't doubt Happy Skin's lipstick juju. I have a couple of faves I never fail to go back to! However, the Lip & Cheek Mousses in Laugh Always and Fall In Love are too similar. Behold:

Laugh Always is described by Happy Skin as a "universally-flattering earthy nude". I don't question the universally flattering bit at all - I'm sure all skin tones will look great with it on. But it's not earthy, and it's definitely not nude. I'd say it's a mid-toned mauvey pink. It's not bright, but it's a strong color on my medium skin.

Still pretty tho! It's like a slightly brighter, pinker version of the best-selling The Morning After.

Fall In Love is a peachy pink with a terracotta base. The color is also excellent. It's markedly peachier compared to Laugh Always, but from a distance or if you're not observing too closely, they're too similar. It reminds me of Hold My Hand from the summer 2015 collection. Checking my pictures to refresh my memory, they're REALLY similar. You should get Fall In Love if you missed Hold My Hand!

FYI I love Hold My Hand and I use it A LOT.

But let's not forget that these mousses also function really well as cream blushes. The difference between the two shades is more obvious once they are thinned down; at full strength, you won't notice it much. Laugh Always looks like a mauve pink blush, while fall in love is a bit more coral than peach IMHO. Needless to say, both shades are flattering on Asian skin. They're also super easy to work with - one dot per cheek, blended quickly for a few seconds, is all it takes. They also stay on for a good amount of time as they leave a stain on bare skin!

So there you go. ^_^ You can purchase the new Lip & Cheek Mousses separately at P699 so it's no skin off anyone's backs, really. You'll just be missing the pretty box, haha! You can't go wrong with both colors, but if you must chose, get Fall In Love. It's such a happy, versatile kind of color that really brightens any type of skin tone. What's your pick?
