What kind of makeup should you wear when you're sick?

The dilemma: you're sick, but you still need to go out of the house and work (or run errands). What kind of makeup can disguise you from looking like you're about to collapse or puke on someone? (If you are about to do those two things though you better stay home!) The funny thing is, the more gunk we pile on, the worse our face looks. Our skin is simply not the same when we're sick. It gets dehydrated, dull, and paler than usual.

So what to do? I have here some sick makeup suggestions that'll make you glow - I know because I used them the other day while out and feverish! I love them because they're comfy to wear while making my skin look a lot better than it actually is. ^_^

Pixi by Petra is a brand from London that's all about naturally radiant makeup. It's for women who can't stop for long, so the line features enhancing, easy to apply products that you won't want to leave home without. As it happens, Pixi's products are also perfect for sick gals like us. They make skin brighter and hydrated instantly!

I love the Pixy Flawless Beauty Primer (P1,430 at Glamourbox) because it has a shimmery, peachy-champagne finish that makes the skin glow. It doesn't feel silicone-y like your typical primer; it's more like a hydrating illuminator. I haven't used it with foundation yet, but honestly it looks fabulous by itself.

When you're sick, use illuminators instead of foundation. Foundation will just sit on top of your face, making you look cakey and just...off. Spot conceal after applying the illuminator then set it with translucent powder! That's the trick to mimicking healthy skin. ;)

Instead of powder blush, opt for a sheer tint instead. Remember that your goal is to make your skin look fresh and moist! The Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel in Flushed (P890) is a universally flattering color to start with. It will blend nicely on top of any skin tone - just layer until you get your desired opacity.

Do your eyebrows and then wear a brown eyeliner instead of the usual black liner. Why? Brown makes your eyes look softer and more natural. If you have feverish-looking eyes black is the last thing you'd want framing them. It's just too harsh.

The Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in BronzeBeam (P740) is a lovely bronze with gold shimmer. It's extremely smooth, and fairly long-wearing! I wore it for around 5 hours without it smudging. Tip: it's so creamy you can actually use this as eyeshadow.

For the lips, go for something (again) hydrating like the Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Baby Bare (P790). This is a gorgeous salmon pink that should suit fair to medium-dark skin. I thought it would be too sheer judging by the name, but it gives just the right punch of juicy color on my lips after just two layers. This is my second fave after the primer!

And here's my FOTD wearing all these. I was feeling crappy while dripping snot and phlegm all over the place (yuck yes), but you wouldn't know if I didn't tell you - right? *wink*

So there you go. I need to rest up, my fever's back. Hope you're having a fab week!
