Clinique Week: Lash Power Feathering Mascara

Everybody advises against buying expensive mascaras because we are supposed to throw them away after three months of use. What's the point of spending big bucks when they expire too quickly any way?

Between the two of us though, I keep mascaras for up to six, eight months, the time they usually dry up. First reason: I don't think they get contaminated by bacteria or mold that easily because they have preservatives, just like any cosmetic. Second reason: I only use my mascaras on myself. I only apply them after I wash my face, inside my room.

This isn't something I would advise everyone to do, of course, it's just how I like to deal with my mascaras. I haven't had eye infections or irritations in all the years I've been doing this so, yeah. To each her own!

Anyway, this week, I'd like to talk about some of Clinique's latest products. Let's start with the Lash Power Feathering Mascara (P1,200+), which promises to provide "out-to-there length and fine-tuned separation and a feathery-soft look and feel after every build able coat". I don't know about "out-there-length" but I super agree that this separates lashes wonderfully, and doesn't feel brittle as it dries. Oh, it also doesn't smudge on me, plus it washes off easily with soapy water or water-based makeup remover.

As you can see in the picture below, my lashes get some natural volume and considerable length. They also remain curled during the day with this mascara! To get this effect though, I have to do two layers (well that's the average with most mascaras), carefully adding the coats in quick strokes. I suggest letting each layer dry first to get the most volume out of the formula.

It does not clump or look spidery, which I like.

The effect is indeed feathery and fringe-y looking - my lashes are definitely considerably pumped up, though not to the point that they look unnatural. Falsie-like lashes are great in some occasions, but for normal days I look for something that is easily applied, easily perfected, and easily removed.

I'd say the Lash Power Feathering Mascara is a great everyday lash warrior, especially those with sensitive eyes (it's Clinique after all). It's expensive for a mascara but if you love the effect and don't mind the price, then it's worth the plunge. I've been using this regularly in the last few weeks! I'm very happy with how effortless it is to use. ^_^

Lemme know what you think! How was your weekend btw?
