Human Heart Nature Mineral Color Creme Lipstick in Candy Red

Remember a few years back when everyone was crazy about high heels? That thankfully died down, and now the fashion gods dictate that sandals and sneakers are the hottest things since sliced bread. I rarely see anyone in heels now - even magazine people, unless it's a very important event. Who has the time to suffer wearing tall shoes?

I do still love wearing them every once in a while, but now I'm on a sneaker semi-addiction. Even more after I saw most of the stylish people in Tokyo wearing New Balance, Vans, and Converse sneaks! In the same vein, women are now going for more convenient, easy cosmetics. We don't want to fuss anymore - we just want something that requires the least amount of thought and effort. There's a good and bad side to that but I think we can all agree that easy is good!

Anyhoo, today I want to introduce you to something new from a local megabrand: the Human Heart Nature Mineral Color Creme Lipstick (P295). I'm not going to prolong this review. This is an excellent lipstick in classy packaging, and it reminds me so much of the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine Lipstick! It has the exact moisturizing feel and shiny finish.

However, as with the Shu Uemura lippie, this isn't particularly long-wearing. It'll take only two or three hours before it fades completey. That's alright though as it doesn't flake up when it dries - a quick retouch definitely won't feel gross! It's very similar to other balmy lipsticks like the Clinique Chubby Sticks and Revlon Kissable Balm Stains. This HHN lipstick just like you're applying smooth, buttery balm. It's super moisturizing.

The packaging is excellent. I've always thought HHN has, erm, not-so-nice packaging but this is an exception (or maybe a new breed?). Everything from the cardboard box to the sleek black metal bullet says "luxe"!

The shade I have is called "Red Candy". It's not so reddish as it it berry-ish, if you ask me. It has a slight mauve undertone on me as well. It's a great daily color for me since I don't even need to wear lip balm underneath or to layer anything else to achieve that lovely shine. It's the kind of lippie I can just swipe on and go.

Lip Swatch of Red Candy. It's not 100% opaque but it evens out the lips beautifully.

A quick FOTD! Blue eyeliner is the best way to drum up a plain look.

I need to mention this. I'm not not over the fact that Human Heart Nature uses scare tactics to gain more customers and to unfairly discredit other brands. It says in the back of the box:

Some lipsticks contain an array of toxic chemicals such as mineral oil which speeds up ageing on skin and lips, and carmine from crushed insects. [We are] 100% natural and animal-cruelty free so you get only goodness.

Oh really now? I wish they have sources other than EWG which is often pretty unreliable when cross-checked with the US FDA guidelines and other scientific studies. I've alread y talked about how harmless mineral oil is here, please do read that post. Even VMV Hypoallergenics uses mineral oil! I think it's irresponsible for Human Heart Nature to continue with this marketing tactic. There are other ways to sell things without making outrageous claims.

All that aside, I find the Human Heart Nature Mineral Color Creme Lipstick a great lippie for the price. It could rival more expensive brands with the quality, if you ask me! This is perfect for those with dry lips and like natural-looking colors. Just make sure to store this properly or it will expire quickly. It only has a shelf-life of one year or less as the ingredients may spoil easily. (On that note, I wonder what preservative they used here?)

Let me know what you think! ^_^
