Swatches + looks: The LORAC MEGA PRO PALETTE
When I saw the LORAC Mega Pro Palette on Instagram a few months ago, I knew I gotta have it. The LORAC Pro 1 is one of my favorite eyeshadow palettes ever and I wanted to get more more more colors! But first - how did I get my grubby hands on the Mega Pro here in Manila? Currently this palette is sold out everywhere. I was lucky that Melanie, my friend who runs Makeupholics, was able to find one for me! She is selling it for P4,950 and currently only has five pieces left.
Not gonna lie, it's quite expensive, but if you want the palette badly enough then this is the simplest, less hassle way to go about it. That price includes the sales tax in the US plus shipping to the Philippines.
The eyeshadow palette is the size of two Lorac Pros side by side, and is as slim as the original. It's quite easy to tuck in a handbag if you really wanted to bring it; it also has a mirror. The packaging is sturdy enough to last a while - of course, as long as you don't handle it roughly. It is still cardboard.
The quality of the colors overall are pretty good though they tend to be so soft and silky to the verge of being powdery. The application is smooth; some of the colors (the lighter ones especially) tend to sheer out too easily as you blend them. It's nothing a good eye primer can't solve. Make sure to use one to help hold the colors all day!
As for the variation of shades, there are 16 mattes and 16 shimmers. Most of them are warm - all the more flattering on Asian skin tones. The Lorac Pro 1 that I have has some cool colors I can't pull off without effort so I like that I can wear almost everything in the Mega Pro.
I like the combination of colors, how they range from white to mulberry to a dark teal to charcoal black. This'll really unlock your eyeshadow game! However, some of the colors differ minimally from each other. For example the first row are just variations of white. Sure the texture and finish are different from each other, but it'll still look white when observed from afar. Same with Black and Caviar - they are almost the same.
The blending colors (mid-toned neutrals) only have slight variation as well. Some lean warmer, more tan, but not by a lot, I feel. Check out the swatches below and see for yourself.
My favorites would have to be Deep Teal, Indigo, Merlot, Granite, and Smokey Topaz! I adore everything else, I just feel that those colors stand out the most. Here are a couple of FOTDs with 'em on!
Here I'm wearing Amber on the lids, Merlot on the crease, a bit of Espresso on the outer v, then blended the top part with Brown.
Here I have Deep Teal all over my lids then blended it with Stone on the crease, I added another blending shade, Khaki, just to soften the smokiness of the look.
All things said, I love the LORAC Mega Pro Palette. It's totally worth the purchase, if you love eyeshadows as much as I do! I'm glad I splurged. ^_^ You can get one at Makeupholics if you're based in the Philippines.
