Hayan: Korean beauty on a budget

Have you guys heard of Hayan before? It's a Korean beauty brand that has been in the Philippines for a year now, with 18 branches already opened as of this month. It seems to be quietly successful so far - I can see why! Hayan's products are quite affordable. According to the brochure (which I will attach for your review later), there is nothing over P500 in the skincare line, and the P390 BB cream is the most expensive makeup they have.

Of course, I had to try the makeup. I'm always on the lookout for inexpensive products to recommend to girls who want to beautify on a tight budget, particularly students who are building their first makeup kit. I'm happy to say that there are a few things here that are worth the purchase - whether you're trying to scrimp or not!

The packaging of Hayan products are surprisingly nice considering how affordable they are. Most of them come in a matte black box, with the appropriate product information. The cases look fairly sturdy and solid, again, not bad for the price.

The quality of the products are nice - some nicer than others, exceeding my expectations - but you do have to remember that they are affordable for a reason. :) They won't smell as good or feel as light as more expensive Korean brands. Imagine our local drugstore makeup, but Korean. They work well and look good, but you must adjust expectations.

That said, I want to show you a look I did with all of the Hayan stuff above. ^_^ I will also be discussing my favorites briefly!

Okay, the best out of that bunch is the Hayan Artistic Crystal Eyeshadow (P98). For less than a hundred bucks, these eyeshadows are surprisingly smooth and pigmented! I only chose the colors out of the catalog but I love how they looked in person.

Doesn't the packaging remind you of something? ;) Yes, they look like NYX single eyeshadows. Quality-wise, they pretty much look and apply the same.

Eyeshadow shades: E57 (shimmery debutante pink), E54  (coppery rust), E52 (shimmery cocoa)

Let me know if you want a tutorial of this eyeshadow look!

I also liked the Hayan Brown Auto Eyebrow Pencil (P90) and the Cheek Blusher in Bronze (P290). The eyebrow pencil looks well-packaged plus the shade looks good on me. It has a spoolie in the other end so you can blend out the creamy product easily enough! I have a feeling I'm going to be using this pencil regularly, it's just so convenient.

The pencil is creamy and can look too harsh if not applied with control. Good thing there's a spoolie on the other end to brush and blend your eyebrows. I like this spoolie, it's just the right size and isn't scratchy!

The Blusher is actually a bronzer. It looks great as a contouring powder although it does have shimmer. Shade looks good, not too orange or tan. It has a strong powdery scent but I can live with it.

The Hayan Slim Lipstick (P250) and BB Cream (P390) are just okay. They don't particularly stand out to me, as the lipstick has a strong waxy smell while the BB Cream isn't my shade (I wore the darkest #24 but it's about a shade lighter than my skintone). I have to admit, they're quite photogenic nonetheless. ;)

The BB Cream is moisturizing and offers sheer to medium coverage. I think it works best with dry skin, although if you're combination/oily you can always set it with the loose powder.

So there you go. I would recommend you get the eyebrow pencil, blush, and eyeshadows as they are inexpensive yet do the job well. ^_^ If I have to pick one, the eyeshadows would be my must-have, but my top recommendation would be the pencil because, well, everyone needs nice eyebrows!

Have you guys tried Hayan? How was it?
