BB Cream Week: Kiehl's Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream

I saw a quote the other week that went, "If you don't build your dream, someone else will pay you to build theirs." This is true. If you love something you're probably thinking of striking it out on your own, perhaps earning money from it. But there is that ever-constant fear of failing, so instead of chasing after what you really want to do, you just end up getting paid by someone else to do it for them. It's practical, yes. Also sad at the same time.

Moral lesson: if you're gonna slave away anyway, do it to build your own empire.

So. Let's continue BB Cream Week! On the chopping block today is the Kiehl's Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream (P2,200+). This is a sheer, moisturizing base with SPF 50 and broad spectrum protection. It contains Vitamin C to help rejuvenate and clear skin, as well as soften fine lines over time.

I'd like to think of this as skincare rather than makeup. The coverage is so sheer that it barely covers anything even with two layers - actually, this  feels exactly like a tinted version of the Kiehl's Ultra Light UV Defense sunscreen! It feels sticky when applied but it's fairly lightweight once it dries.

Need to mention this: it has a strong sunblock-y smell

Finish is dewy when set with powder; it's quite shiny by itself. This BB cream comes in three shades that are unfortunately beige and grayish on my skin tone. It doesn't show in the pictures because I've already applied my powder, but the shade that I have (Light) makes my face look so ashen and pale before it sets.

Wearing Light here. It's sheer but there's still some grayness round the edges of my face.

I don't like how the Kiehl's BB Cream highlights the roughness of some of the areas of my face. It also looks off in flourescent lighting and flash, which is partly due to the high SPF number as well as the beige tint.

Overall, I would recommend the Kiehl's Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream to girls (or boys) who have a light beige undertone and dry to combi skin. This is a great option if you're looking for generous sun protection and if you have smooth, trouble-free skin. Otherwise, you're better off trying out BB creams with heavier coverage, better shade selection, and a less emollient texture.

What do you think? Is this BB cream for you?
