First look: Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Hoola

Do you love Benefit's famous Box O' Powders - CORALista, Hervana, Bella Bamba, and Hoola, to name a few? Well, if you're a fan of those shades then you just might love their new Ultra Plush Lip Glosses (price TBA) inspired by their blushes. This new gloss is coming out on July worldwide (it's not yet out even in the US!), but since I got hold of one early I thought I'd do a review!

Okay, so! I've tried quite a few lip glosses in the past - high-end, low-end, thin like lipstick, thick like glue - but this is nothing like I've used before. (Maybe I should get out more? Hihi.) Anyway, I don't know what "ultra plush" means but this lip gloss must be it!

Feel and scent. It's super thin on the lips, like liquid lip balm if you can imagine that. It also doesn't feel drying, a fault that most lip glosses tend to have. The scent is a sweet cocoa-peach that's so delicious, it's good enough to eat!

Shade and finish. It's very sheer (Hoola is, but CORALista has more color to it) and incredibly shiny. Don't worry, Hoola isn't actually the exact same color as Hoola the contour powder! The Hoola powder is an opaque, matte tan, while the gloss is a nude-ish color with some fine golden glitter.

CORALista on the other hand is more reddish than coral.

Lasting power. Like most glosses, the Benefit Ultra Plush doesn't last terribly long. Give it two, three hours tops before it dries up (thankfully not in flakes!). A meal will completely wipe it out. You will need to bring it along to re-apply.

Packaging. I like that Benefit opted for a plastic tip, which means that you can sanitize it after every use. The gloss itself comes in a gorgeous, important-looking box - not a surprise, seeing as it's from Benefit.

Verdict and recommendations. If you don't like glosses because they felt like glue and caused your lips to flake, well, let the Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss change your mind! It feels fantastic on the lips and does not feel drying at all. Do note that it's quite sheer and doesn't last especially long. You will need to retouch if you want to keep the shine going; also, use a base lipstick if you're after opaque lips.

If you want just natural looking, shiny lips though, you'll love this Benefit gloss by itself - you don't even need a lip balm!

Overall, I do like the product. It may not be opaque, but it is a great lip gloss to layer on top of my favorite lipsticks. :)

Sooo...which Benefit Box O' Powder is your favorite, and will you get the gloss?
