Christmas Tree nails

What do you plan to do on Christmas? Me, I just want to eat all my favorite things, and maybe go out to watch a movie with my family. ^_^ All very straightforward. I want to finish reading the books on my list and just relax during the holidays.

Of course, Christmas is not complete without the requisite red and glitter upon our persons. I'm celebrating this whole weekend with my Etude House nail set in Christmas Miracle!

Christmas Tree is a set of three polishes that is designed to give a gradient glitter nail effect. The red base has some fine gold shimmer - absolutely gorgeous - and is opaque in only one coat. The gold glitter has both big glitter and fine shimmer floating in a clear base. The last bottle is a mix of large sparkles in green, magenta, silver, and blue.

Someone commented in my capsule review post that the combination seems rather odd. I tried using just the gold and red, but it seemed flat to me so I added the psychedelic glitter. I love the effect! The finished work looks more dimensional and eye-catching.

You'll notice that I did a sort of reverse gradient starting from the nail bed. I just patted the glitter on the base of the nails until I got the coverage I wanted. It might take a bit of effort to get A LOT of the sparkles in one place, but just push and prod them quickly, before the polish dries. It also helps to push the glitters to the tip of the brush before applying it on the nails.

I finished off my work with a thick coat of the Revlon Colorstay Base Coat to keep the glitters from flaking after a day or two. :)

And that's it! What nail polish will you be wearing on Christmas? :D Do share!
