Etude House Dear My Essence in Lips-talk
Lips-talk. Such a funny word but it actually makes sense for Etude House to call their lip products "lips-talk". They believe that the color we wear on our lips tells the world what we're feeling that day, hence, our lipstick does some talking! It's roundabout but clever.
Anyway, I've reviewed some lipsticks from Etude before and I love 'em. You can't go wrong with a great price, nice texture and color selection! This time, I have a lipstick-balm hybrid that's supposed to condition our puckers: the Etude House Dear My Essence in Lips-talk.
It's described as "enriched with Meadowfoam Seed Oil, this ultra-conditioning Essence-in-lipstick melts into lips with luscious color and brilliant shine, leaving your lips smooth, moisturized, and soft." 'Tis true. This stuff is so creamy it literally melts into a wet, almost gloss texture when it hits the lips. It's also moisturizing, as if you put butter on!
This surge of moisture lasts a decent 3 or 4 hours. Now lipstick-balm hybrids are sometimes 70% lipstick and 30% balm or the reverse, but Essene in Lips-Talk is 50% balm and 50% lipstick (at least it seems to me). Equal parts. You get moisture and color without the compromise that comes with other products of this type. (i.e. more color, less moisture; more moisture, less color).
Lip swatch of EBE101. It looks pinker here than it does in person. On me, it looks like a brown-pink MLBB shade. It's quite pigmented, just like lipstick.
Downside, the color fades quickly. In two hours you will just have a hint of it on your lips, prompting you to re-apply again. One way to get around it is to wear a coordinating stain underneath so that it shows through when the top layer fades away.
Another thing to note is that the twist mechanism only goes forward. You can't turn it back so make sure that you only bring out a small part every time you twist! I made the mistaking of trying to see how long the product is, only to realize I can't put it back. Good thing I didn't get very far, or I would have been forced to cut off the part that won't fit in the cap.
Overall, the Etude House Dear My Essence in Lips-talk is a nice find for girls who are concerned with dry, rough lips. This can moisture and smoothen for a few hours. I like having it in my bag on days when I need a low-maintenance color just to enhance my lips. :)
What do you think? Now that we're on the topic - what are your favorite lipstick-balm products?
PS Can't find the price. Do you guys know? I'm not sure now if it's available in the Philippines as Etude House Korea was the one who sent this!
