VMV Velvet Matte and Glitz lipsticks

VMV Hypoallergenics is not particularly known for its makeup, but from what I've tried so far, I would have to say I'm impressed (remember the Ooh-La-Lash! Volumizing Mascara and the Lip Glitter Gloss?). VMV cosmetics is quite underrated but I do hope that will change in the future since their formulas are ace, with the added bonus of being truly hypoallergenic.

This time, I'd like to share my review of two VMV lipstick formulas: Velvet Matte and Glitz. Velvet matte lipsticks are, well, as matte as you can get. They feel very soft on the lips and isn't too drying. Glitz, on the other hand, has a shiny, glossy finish that's very look-at-me. Here's a quick rundown of each formula's strengths and weaknesses!

VMV Hypoallergenics Velvet Matte Lipstick in Kitten

"Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of furr!" is a song that plays in my head whenever I think about this lipstick. Kitten is an incredibly soft lipstick - both shade and texture-wise - that's quite unique for me. It looks plum in the tube, but applies as a brownish, nude shade on the lips. It's a great nude that won't wash morenas out!

What I love about the product

  • Very creamy so it isn't too drying. I still apply lip balm underneath if I expect to be out all day though.
  • Good lasting power. It really sticks on the lips when worn.
  • As promised, texture is soft and velvety.
  • Comes in a slick silver bullet that's quite sophisticated.
  • 4 grams in the tube. Most lipsticks only offer 3-3.5 grams at most.

What I don't like about the product

  • Can feel a bit heavy and waxy on the lips.

Neutral

  • Price. It's P1,000 a tube. For 4 grams, that's not bad. And it's VMV, so ok na.

VMV Hypoallergenics Glitz Lipstick in It Girl

It Girl is a bright red with slightly bluish undertones. It's very wearable in the sense that the coverage can be built up - it can be worn sheer, or layered for true red lips. Unlike other red lipsticks, this one is a no-brainer red to apply - the formula affords control so the lipstick isn't slippery when you apply it from the tube and it doesn't bleed. It Girl is perfect for fair to dark girls; it's very skin tone-friendly.

What I love about the product

  • It delivers a high-impact, brilliant finish because of the glitter in the formula (which you can only see in the tube, but not when applied.)
  • Non-drying.
  • Unlike Velvet Matte, Glitz feels very light on the lips.
  • Good staying power. This particular shade leaves an even stain even after eating and drinking.
  • Comes in a slick silver bullet that's quite sophisticated.
  • 4 grams in the tube. Most lipsticks only offer 3-3.5 grams at most.

What I don't like about the product

  • Texture is quite rough coarse because of the big glitter. You'll feel this when you apply, it's like a mild lip scrub. But the coarse feeling disappears once you smooth it out.

Neutral

  • Price. It's P1,000 a tube. For 4 grams, that's not bad. And it's VMV, so ok na.

Recommendations

The VMV Hypoallergenics Velvet Matte and Glitz Lipsticks both have something interesting to offer to the table. They are both long-lasting with beautiful finishes. In the end, it depends on what you prefer - shiny or matte? Hope you can find a shade that you can make a part of your daily routine!

Verdict

Kitten and It Girl are both versatile shades that will never go out of style, so I expect to use both until their expiration dates!

One more good thing about these lipsticks: They come in environment-friendly packaging!
