Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup Starter Kit

Jane Iredale is one of the few brands that offer truly 100% mineral makeup. It costs a pretty penny - up there with Colorescience, just less expensive - but unlike cheaper MMU the efficacy and convenience of the products are compararable to high-end traditional makeup. If you have super sensitive skin, true mineral makeup is definitely the way to go.

I've heard so many good things about Jane Iredale way before, so I was psyched to try out their Starter Kit in Golden. It has everything a girl can need for a full face of makeup - tinted primer, foundation, concealer, blush, lip color, and even brushes! However, it's not something you should get for daily use since the products are in sample sizes. It's really more for people who want to try out JI makeup without paying full price.

After using it for a few weeks, here's my review of and recommendations for each product in the kit. You can buy them separately so you don't have to shell out the P5,000+ this Starter Kit costs. ;)

Pressed Mineral Powder with SPF20: This light coverage mineral powder is da bomb. It has a nice glowy finish that looks like skin, just better! It stays on and never cakes, plus it feels like it's not there. I think this is P2,000+ for the full size.

Just a note though, if you need heavy coverage, this isn't for you. It's rather sheer, enough for it to pass as a finishing powder. It's best used with the Dream Tint.

Pure Pressed Blush in Whisper: Really nice, warm pink blush with golden shimmer. It's a litle bit like NARS Orgasm actually. Highly flattering, but not inherently unique.

Circle Delete Concealer: Medium coverage, not really buildable. The light, super creamy texture is perfect for undereyes! I just wish there are more shade selections available in the Philippines. Currently, this is the darkest available shade. It's a great concealer but I don't know a true-blue Pinay who needs a white concealer.

Dream Tint Moisture Tint with SPF15: This is another winner product in my book. It doesn't provide much coverage, but it's a highly effective primer for making your MMU stick all day. It will lessen redness, at least, which makes it perfect for sensitive skin. If you have that skin type but still prefer using traditional makeup, this base/primer will act as a barrier between the irritants of your top makeup.

If there's one item I would buy from Jane Iredale, it would be the Dream Tint. I highly recommend it.

Just Kissed Lip Plumper in L.A.: Pleasant, but doesn't do much by way of pigmentation or plumping. It does give a nice golden glow to the lips.

Brushes: Nice but the full-sized brushes are waaay better. These brushes are handy for traveling or retouching - they will fit into any purse.

And of course, how can I leave you without showing you an FOTD using the Jane Iredale Starter Kit? For kicks, I was also wearing mineral eyeshadow from Human Heart Nature, mineral mascara from Avon, and mineral lipstick from Color Collection. Career!

So yes, if you're going to buy anything from Jane Iredale, get the Pressed Mineral Powder with SPF20 and the Dream Tint Moisture Tint with SPF15 - you'll love them!

Tried Jane Iredale before? Wanna try it now? GO!
