Review: E.l.f. Eyebrow Kit in Light

I became curious about E.l.f.’s Studio line when I read some bloggers rave about the blush/contour duo. So of course, me being my usual curious cat self, I checked out the nearest E.l.f. outlet in Robinson’s Galleria. I didn’t find it. Instead, I saw the Eyebrow Kit, swatched it, and poof! Love!

The packaging is almost exactly the same as NARS, down to the size and width of the compact. The only obvious difference is the fact that the E.l.f. compact is made of plastic whereas NARS compacts are made of rubber, which feels expensive once held.

What E.l.f. says about this product:

Create brows that are fuller, thicker, and more defined! The pigmented wax defines and shapes brows and the color complementing setting powder keeps them looking arched and perfected. The doubled sided taklon brush has one side to help arch your brows while the other side aids in filling them in. This duo provides lasting color definition for a naturally beautiful look.

P250 at E.l.f. stands in Watsons and the beauty section of department stores

I got the one in Light since it’s the only available color. Aside from that, light-colored brows are actually quite flattering and instantly brightens the face. I wanted in on the bandwagon!

What I like about this:

  • The wax does keep my brows in place
  • Pigmented. You won’t get a lot of color using just one pan in this compact, but combine them together and you’ll get a nice brown color.
  • Lasts all day!
  • Fool-proof application. The wax isn’t a mess to apply with an angled taclon brush. I like the tiny rounded brush provided for the eyebrow powder, it’s soft and gives out good pigmentation.
  • The results are very natural and polished.
  • Cheap at P250!

Wax + Powder, Powder only, Wax only

What I don’t like about this:

  • The brush! It’s tiny! I can live with the flat rounded end of the brush, but the angled taclon end is almost useless. It’s too thin to cover eyebrows properly. It’s too small to get the job done in one or two swipes.

So yeah that’s the only thing I don’t like about this. To use the product, get an angled taclon brush to coat your brows with the wax then set it with a dusting of the very light-colored powder. Don’t worry, once they’re combined, you’ll get a nice chestnut brown color. Very natural.
