Here’s What Happened After I Used The Drunk Elephant A-Shaba Complex Eye Serum For Three Weeks

Drunk Elephant recently launched the new and improved Drunk Elephant A-Shaba Complex™ Eye Serum (P4,000/15ml) – a dedicated eye treatment with retinol that many fans of the original Shaba Eye Serum requested. This joins the “Retin-all” line-up of the brand which includes the A-Passioni Retinol Cream and the A-Gloei Maretinol Oil. It also rounds up the trio of Drunk Elephant eye treatments consisting of the Ceramighty AF Eye Balm and the C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream.

Mild Retinol for the Sensitive Eye Area

The key ingredients of the Drunk Elephant A-Shaba Complex Eye Serum are 0.1% vegan retinol, 3% Caffeine, Copper Tripeptides, and Black Tea Ferment amongst others, and of course, it is formulated without The Suspicious 6. What sets it apart from the other eye treatments is the combination of retinol, caffeine, and copper peptides. These target fine lines, puffiness, and collagen loss which are the usual eye area concerns as we age. The 0.1% concentration is also tested to be mild enough to use on the eye area day or night.

Review + Swatches

After trialing the Drunk Elephant A-Shaba Complex Eye Serum for nearly a month, I'm quite satisfied with its performance. Light and easy to apply, this serum has caused no irritation, which is notable since I've never used retinol before. One pump covers the undereye and orbital bone sufficiently, ensuring the area feels moisturized and ready. It sits well beneath makeup, though my preference is to apply it at night. Remember, it's essential to use broad-spectrum sunscreen, especially when using retinol products.

While instant results were not on my radar, I've been pleasantly surprised by the improvements I've noticed, especially with the fine lines around my eyes' inner corners. The skin around my orbital bone seems somewhat firmer, but what I truly appreciate is the noticeable reduction in puffiness. Despite the hectic schedule I had when I started using the Eye Serum, I've confidently stepped out mostly with just sunscreen, looking much less fatigued.

However, if you're aiming to tackle undereye darkness, the Drunk Elephant A-Shaba Complex™ Eye Serum might benefit from pairing with the C-Tango™ Multivitamin Eye Cream. Drunk Elephant products, in my experience, often complement each other superbly.
