Ready, Wink, Glow: Canmake's award-winning eye makeup is now in the PH

When CanmakePH announced that the Wink Glow Eyes line was now available locally, fellow PV writer Gett and I immediately drew up our wish lists and started planning for our purchase. The liquid eyeshadows placed #2 at the Cosme 2017 Mid-year Awards (Eyeshadow Category) and I wasn’t about to miss out on that. The product promises to be glossy, non-oily, and long-wearing all at the same time. It’s basically all the things I often look for in eye makeup, so I was beyond thrilled to try these new arrivals, plus a couple more products to complete the look!

The Gel Line Artist in Chocolat Brown (P550) is a rich chocolate brown gel pencil eyeliner. It has a fine 1-2mm retractable pencil tip which makes application so easy, especially when I tightline. The formula is a bit hard and tugs a little, but this is easily remedied by first warming it up by drawing on the back of my hand before actual application. This is legit waterproof and smudgeproof but because of my particular eye shape, the innermost portion of the eyeliner fades after around 4 hours without primer or 7 hours with primer.

Tip: Make sure to not twist the pencil up too much product as to prevent breakage.

The Lasting Multi Eyebase WP (P510) is also an award-winning product (ranked #2 on Cosme 2016 for Makeup Base Category). The transparent base has a creamy-silicone consistency which smooths my eyelids and makes everything applied on it (including my eyebrows!) last the whole day. It makes eyeshadows with low chroma or pigment saturation appear brighter and more vivid, improves the glide of the pencil eyeliner, and can even be used as a setting gel to keep my eyebrow hair in place. A small dot about the size of a rice grain is all you need to prime both eyes.

Tip: Only apply a light layer because having too much product can make your eyelids feel heavy.

The Wink Glow Eyes Gloss Eyeshadows (P570) are the undisputed stars of these new releases. These liquid eyeshadows have fine micro glitter with a pearl finish, which contributes to its glossy appearance when worn. They come in a handy tube packaging and are available in 5 shades. I got to try 04 Lady Gold and 05 Apricot Cherry Tulle.

04 Lady Gold is a yellow gold pigment with gold, silver, and pink shimmers. It has literally been the only eyeshadow I wear whenever I am in a rush because it makes me look put together without much effort! The effect looks subtle in photos but prettier in person, and I like that I can wear it on its own or on top of powder shadows for added luster.

05 Apricot Cherry Tulle is a mid-cool toned pink with silver and pink shimmers. It’s a bit tricky to wear alone since it can make your eyes look swollen from crying, but when mixed with other deeper tones, it looks chic and sophisticated.

I love that the liquid formula of these eyeshadows reduces the chances of glitter falling out during application and throughout the day! It dries and sets to a powdery finish rather quickly, so it’s important to work fast and with precision. Because it sets fast, it’s a bit difficult to clean up mistakes. Application will vary depending on the look you want to achieve: It’s best to apply with a brush for a more diffused finish, or a clean finger for more saturated color.

I think it’s worth getting the Wink Glow Eyes 04 Lady Gold if you’re looking to incorporate eyeshadow to your daily routine, and 05 Apricot Cherry Tulle if you already have a basic setup and want to play with more colors. The Lasting Multi Eyebase WP is also a must-have for those with oily lids and need help with making eyebrows last all day. I also like how the fine tip of the Gel Line Artist makes people wonder whether I’m wearing eyeliner or not!
