Review + Swatches: Pink Sugar's new P399 foundation and P349 concealer

When the Pink Sugar Our Lil Secret Concealer came out a few years ago, makeup fans went nuts for its crazy coverage and staying power. It was a once-in-a-blue-moon drugstore concealer that actually can match high-end ones, for a change. At P299, it's one of the "secret" gems at Watsons and SM Beauty stores.

Pink Sugar's Laveen and Rohit Mirpuri knew that they had a winner in their hands and of course, wanted to expand the line based on what their customers are asking for. Recently they came up with two new products under the Our Lil Secret line: the All Day Coverage Liquid Foundation (P399) and a more lightweight version of their Concealer (P349).

Let's see what each has to offer!

The Our Lil Secret All Day Coverage Foundation (P399 for 25 grams) is a liquid foundation that offers heavy coverage and good staying power. It comes in five shades, all with a gorgeous matte-but-not-flat finish. It's super easy to blend with any tool at your disposal: I've used a Beautyblender, my fingers, a stippling brush, and a dense kabuki - all work very well to apply the foundation.

This is, without a doubt, a full coverage foundation. It can actually cover blemishes in one layer. It's a water-based product, but has a silicone-y, mousse-y slip. It actually reminds me of the Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation, since they have a similar texture, coverage, and finish! The UD All Nighter is one of my top full coverage, long-wearing bases.

Indeed, the staying power of the Our Lil Secret Foundation is pretty good at around seven hours before it seriously starts to fade on my combination skin. It needs to be retouched by the third hour (I'm already oily there) and maintained throughout the day if you want it to stay in place. This should be good for oily skin as long as you blot and powder whenever you get oily.

I found a shade match in Medium Deep. Yep, it's the darkest shade out of the five. :/ I found the shade selection tricky! On me, the colors are a totally different story when blended. The foundation actually looks lighter once the pigments are activated. It's not really "oxidizing", it's just that the true color manifests once it's applied all over.

Freshly applied: the Pink Sugar Our Lil Secret Foundation + Concealer on my under eyes

Five hours and one blotting paper after, I get a nice dewy glow! I have not applied any powder here.

So yes, make sure to get the foundation fully blended on your face before you decide on the shade to buy. I am NC35 for your reference. I've also found that the pigments separate from the water base of the formula; remember to shake it before using.

Overall, I really like the Pink Sugar Our Lil Secret Foundation because it's similar to the Urban Decay All Nighter, but way, way easier to work with and cheaper to boot. I love the coverage, finish, and staying power, for the price! I do wish Pink Sugar will improve the shade selection in the future because the formula is good.

Next up is the new Our Lil Secret Concealer (P349). For the record, this does NOT replace the original OLSC; that one is meant for concealing blemishes. The new formula with a doe foot applicator has a lighter, more blendable, more hydrating texture, so it's best for under eyes.

The shade selection of the concealer is much better than the Liquid Foundation, IMO. All are yellow-based, which adds an extra kick in the eye bag brightening department. The shade I use for my under eyes is Medium; if I want to lightly color correct darker areas around my face, Beige is my go-to. This can conceal light blemishes, but not super dark blemishes.

The concealer is a dream to work with. It stays on for about four hours on my eyes without creasing! When it does crease, I just tap it with a clean finger and it's as good as new.

I highly recommend the new Pink Sugar Our Lil Secret Concealer if you need something lightweight, brightening, and long-wearing on your eye bags. It's really sulit for P349 at 9 grams! I'll be adding this one to my daily rotation.

Oh, by the way, I made a video on my first impressions of Pink Sugar's latest releases! I also talked about the new lipstick formula (Velvet Matte) and eyeshadow quads here. You can watch the Foundation and Concealer in action as well.

What do you guys think about Pink Sugar's new bases?

Pink Sugar is located in Watsons and SM Beauty stores, as well as on BeautyMNL.com.
